MSC Cruises offers paid onboard laundry service, along with laundry packages for guests who expect to send out several loads during a cruise. MSC does not publish a standard price list on its public U.S. website, so check the package price in your booking account and the itemized list in your cabin before deciding what makes sense for your sailing.
The practical details matter as much as the price: MSC says the package can cover up to 40 items per cabin per cruise, laundry is not available on the final day, and a clothing iron is a prohibited item.
How Much Does MSC Laundry Cost?
You can book laundry prior to your sailing or while on the ship. The latest prices that we’ve seen are as follows:
- “Back Home Clean 20 Pieces” – $39. This includes washing and folding of up to 20 pieces of laundry
- “Back Home Clean 40 Pieces” – $54. This includes washing and folding up up to 40 pieces of laundry.
This pricing may vary by ship, sailing and itinerary.
What Does the Laundry Package Include?
MSC describes several Laundry Service Packages. The package page says one charge covers every traveler in the cabin, for up to 40 items per cabin per cruise. The limit is per cabin, not 40 items for each guest.
MSC says items are collected before noon and returned within 48 hours, before dinner. Laundry service is not available on the last day of the cruise, so do not plan to send clothes out late in the sailing and rely on getting them back before disembarkation. Confirm the collection and return details on your ship when you board.
Is There Self-Service Laundry on MSC Ships?
MSC’s public U.S. laundry information describes paid onboard service and cabin collection. It does not clearly answer whether every ship has a self-service laundry room. Plan around the paid service unless MSC confirms a self-service option for your specific ship. If doing your own laundry is important to your packing plan, ask MSC before sailing rather than assuming a laundromat will be available.
What Laundry Benefits Come With MSC Status or a Suite?
MSC’s current U.S. Voyagers Club page lists a 10% discount on Laundry Packages for Silver, Gold, Diamond and Blue Diamond members. Check the benefit in your account because program terms can change.
For stateroom benefits, MSC lists complimentary ironing for two items per Aurea Suite. This is specifically an Aurea Suite benefit, not a general promise for every Aurea guest or every suite category. The public information reviewed here does not establish that laundry is included with Yacht Club accommodations, so check the inclusions attached to your booking.
Does MSC Offer Baby Laundry?
MSC lists a separate Baby Laundry Service for baby and toddler clothing. The company says the clothes are washed separately, collected from the cabin and returned the following day. MSC says details are provided in the cabin along with a laundry bag and service coupon. The public page does not state a price, so check the onboard information before using it.
Can You Bring an Iron or Steamer?
MSC’s U.S. luggage rules list clothing irons among prohibited heating elements. Hair dryers, curling irons and hair straighteners are specifically excluded from that restriction and are accepted onboard. Do not pack a clothing iron. The page reviewed does not spell out steamer rules, so check MSC’s current prohibited-items guidance if you are considering bringing one. In our experience, we’ve had garment steamers confiscated on some sailings for MSC and other brands while other times they are let through. For those that are wrinkle conscience, a spray or the old fashion use-the-shower-as-a-steam method.
For fewer laundry surprises, check your booking account for package offers before sailing, review the cabin price list once onboard, and leave enough time for the published return window. The right choice depends on the current sailing price and how many items your cabin expects to send.
