MSC Seaside Guide: Cabins, Dining, Pools, Activities & What to Expect

MSC Seaside is one of the most important ships in MSC Cruises’ modern fleet because it introduced a new kind of ship design for the line: one built to bring guests closer to the ocean.

Launched in 2017, MSC Seaside was the first ship in MSC’s Seaside Class and was designed with warm-weather cruising in mind. Instead of focusing mostly on indoor promenades and enclosed public spaces, MSC Seaside leans into outdoor decks, sea views, open-air walkways, pools, glass bridges, and waterfront-style spaces. MSC Seaside launched in December 2017 and was the first MSC ship christened in the United States.

In simple terms, MSC Seaside is MSC’s “get outside and look at the ocean” ship.

That makes it very different from the Meraviglia Class, which is more all-weather and indoor-promenade focused, and also different from the newer World Class ships, which are much larger floating resort-style ships. MSC Seaside sits in a sweet spot for cruisers who want a big, modern ship with plenty to do, but still want the ocean to feel like the star of the show.

      What Makes MSC Seaside Different?

The biggest thing that separates MSC Seaside from many other MSC ships is the design.

MSC Seaside was built around the idea of connecting guests with the sea. That sounds like cruise brochure language, because of course it does, but on this ship it actually matters. The ship has a lower outdoor promenade, more open deck space, glass elements, outdoor dining and bar areas, and a stern design that gives it a very different profile from MSC’s Meraviglia Class ships.

If MSC Meraviglia feels like a floating European city center with an indoor promenade, MSC Seaside feels more like a beach resort wrapped around a cruise ship.

That can be a major plus in the Caribbean or Mediterranean. Warm weather is where this ship makes the most sense. You want to be outside. You want to see the water. You want the ship to feel breezy and open. MSC Seaside was built for exactly that kind of cruise.

      MSC Seaside Layout and Atmosphere

MSC Seaside is a large ship, but it does not feel exactly like MSC’s newer mega ships. It is big enough to offer multiple restaurants, lounges, pools, a theater, a water park, kids clubs, bowling, and Yacht Club, but it is not as massive as MSC World America or MSC World Europa.

The ship’s outdoor promenade is one of its signature features. Instead of putting nearly all the action high up on the top decks, MSC Seaside brings guests closer to the water with outdoor spaces lower on the ship.

That design gives MSC Seaside a different rhythm. You can spend time by the main pool, wander the outdoor decks, grab a drink with a sea view, or use the ship’s public spaces without always feeling like you are buried inside a floating hotel.

The overall vibe is casual, sunny, and warm-weather focused. It is still MSC, so you still get the international passenger mix, European design touches, stylish lounges, and MSC’s usual blend of formal and casual spaces. But compared with some other MSC ships, MSC Seaside feels more vacation-resort than city-hotel.

      Cabins on MSC Seaside

MSC Seaside offers a wide range of staterooms, including interior cabins, ocean view cabins, balcony cabins, suites, family-friendly accommodations, and MSC Yacht Club suites.

For most guests, balcony cabins are likely the sweet spot on MSC Seaside. This is a ship built around outdoor views and warm-weather cruising, so having your own balcony fits the ship’s personality well.

Interior cabins can still be a good value, especially if you are the type of cruiser who uses the cabin mainly for sleeping, showering, and changing. MSC Seaside has enough public space that you do not need to spend much time in the room unless you want to.

Families should pay attention to cabin location and configuration. On a ship this size, being close to the kids club, buffet, pools, or elevators can make the week easier. Nobody wants a 14-minute hike back to the cabin every time someone forgot goggles, sunscreen, or their ability to behave like a normal human being.

MSC Yacht Club on MSC Seaside

MSC Seaside includes the MSC Yacht Club, MSC’s private ship-within-a-ship concept.

Yacht Club guests get access to exclusive suites, a private lounge, private restaurant, private pool deck, concierge service, butler service, and a quieter overall experience. On a ship like MSC Seaside, this can be a major upgrade.

The nice thing about Yacht Club on MSC Seaside is that it gives you the best of both worlds. You can enjoy the full ship, including the pools, restaurants, theater, bars, and outdoor spaces, but you also have a private retreat when the main areas get busy.

For cruisers who like the idea of MSC Seaside but worry about crowds, Yacht Club is the category that changes the experience the most.

      Dining on MSC Seaside

MSC Seaside has a strong dining lineup, with main dining rooms, buffet venues, and specialty restaurants.

MSC says the ship has nine restaurants, including five specialty restaurants. That gives guests a solid amount of variety without feeling quite as overwhelming as the dining lineup on MSC World America.

      Notable dining venues include:

      VenueTypeNotes
Seashore RestaurantMain Dining RoomTraditional MSC main dining experience
Ipanema RestaurantMain Dining RoomMain dining with Mediterranean and international menus
Marketplace BuffetBuffetCasual buffet with sea views and multiple stations
      Biscayne BuffetFamily BuffetFamily-friendly buffet option
      Butcher’s CutSpecialtyMSC’s American-style steakhouse
Ocean Cay Seafood RestaurantSpecialtySeafood-focused specialty restaurant
HOLA! Tacos & CantinaSpecialty / CasualLatin and Mexican-inspired street food
Asian Market Kitchen Pan AsianSpecialtySushi, sashimi, tempura, soups, rice dishes, and Asian fusion
Kaito TeppanyakiSpecialtyTeppanyaki-style dining with tasting menus and hibachi-style cooking

MSC describes Marketplace Buffet as a casual buffet with sea views, visible kitchens, a mozzarella-making area, international dishes, ethnic cuisine, healthy options, and multiple serving corners.

That buffet setup is very MSC. Expect pizza to be a reliable option, plenty of rotating international choices, and a layout that can feel busy during peak times. On embarkation day and sea day mornings, the buffet will probably be crowded. Shocking, I know. Everyone apparently has the same revolutionary idea to eat lunch at noon.

      Specialty Dining on MSC Seaside

The specialty dining lineup is one of the stronger parts of MSC Seaside.

Butcher’s Cut is MSC’s steakhouse and is usually the most familiar option for American cruisers. MSC describes it as an American-style steakhouse serving Linz Heritage Angus beef with a menu inspired by the Great Plains.

Ocean Cay Seafood Restaurant gives the ship a more upscale seafood option. This is a good fit for a ship that leans so heavily into ocean views and warm-weather cruising.

HOLA! Tacos & Cantina adds a more casual specialty option with tacos, fajitas, and Latin-inspired street food. For guests who do not want every specialty meal to feel like a long sit-down dinner, HOLA! can be a nice change of pace.

Asian Market Kitchen and Kaito Teppanyaki round out the lineup with sushi, Pan Asian dishes, and teppanyaki-style dining. MSC’s description includes sushi, sashimi, maki, tempura, soups, rice dishes, and tasting menus.

Bars and Lounges on MSC Seaside

MSC Seaside has a mix of indoor lounges, outdoor bars, pool bars, theater-adjacent spaces, and specialty venues.

Some of the notable bars and lounges include:

      Seaside Bar
      Haven Lounge
      South Beach Bar
      Miami Beach Bar
      Atmospheric Comedy Club
      Garage Club
      Sports Bar
Top Sail Lounge for Yacht Club guests

The outdoor bar scene is especially important because MSC Seaside is built around warm-weather cruising. South Beach Bar and Miami Beach Bar fit the ship’s overall personality: casual, sunny, and designed for people who want a drink somewhere near water.

The Sports Bar gives guests a familiar place to grab drinks and watch games, though as with most cruise ships, the specific sports shown can depend on satellite feeds, itinerary, and what MSC has available.

The Haven Lounge and other indoor spaces give you alternatives when you want music, a cocktail, or a quieter evening spot away from the pool deck.

      Entertainment on MSC Seaside

MSC Seaside has a broad entertainment lineup, including a large theater, comedy-style venues, family activities, bowling, kids clubs, and late-night spaces.

MSC highlights the ship’s high-tech theater, bowling alleys, interactive multi-story water park, five water slides, adventure trail, AquaPlay area for younger children, and kids areas developed with LEGO and Chicco.

Key entertainment and activity features include:

      Metropolitan Theater
      Forest Aquaventure Park
      Zip line
      Two full-sized bowling alleys
      Mini and Juniors Clubs
      Teens Club
      Garage Club
      Comedy-style entertainment spaces
      Casino
      Arcade and family activities

The Metropolitan Theater is the main show venue. MSC’s theater productions are usually music, dance, acrobatics, and visual-performance driven, which makes them easier to enjoy across multiple languages. That fits MSC’s international passenger base.

The ship also has two full-sized bowling alleys, which is a fun bonus, especially for families or groups looking for something to do between pool time, dinner, and shows.

Pools, Water Park, and Outdoor Fun

This is where MSC Seaside really starts to make sense.

MSC Seaside is a warm-weather ship with major outdoor features, including pools, water slides, an adventure trail, and family water play areas. MSC specifically highlights Forest Aquaventure Park as an interactive, multi-story water park with five water slides, an adventure trail, and an AquaPlay area for tots.

The zip line is another signature feature. It is one of those attractions that makes the ship feel more active and resort-like, especially for families and teens.

For pool deck strategy, the usual big-ship rules apply. If you want a prime chair near the main pool, do not roll out at 10:45 a.m. on a sea day and expect magic. Walk the ship early, learn the less obvious outdoor spaces, and decide whether you want energy, shade, quiet, or kid-friendly convenience.

MSC Seaside has plenty of outdoor space, but the most obvious areas will still get busy.

      Kids and Family Spaces

MSC Seaside is a very family-friendly ship.

The water park, kids clubs, teen spaces, bowling, zip line, and casual dining options all make it a strong fit for families. MSC also highlights kids areas created in partnership with LEGO and Chicco, which is a recurring MSC family feature.

For families with younger children, the AquaPlay area is especially useful because it gives little kids a place to enjoy water play without needing to be in the bigger slide areas.

For older kids and teens, the zip line, bowling, water slides, sports areas, arcade-style activities, and teen club give the ship enough variety to keep the “I’m bored” complaints down. Will they still say it once? Probably. They are kids. That is basically their onboard loyalty program.

      MSC Seaside Casino

MSC Seaside has a casino onboard, giving adults another evening option after dinner or shows.

Like most cruise ship casinos, hours depend on local laws and whether the ship is in port or at sea. The casino is generally open when the ship is in international waters and closed while docked in many ports.

If you are planning to play, check the daily planner or MSC for Me app once onboard. The exact schedule, table minimums, slot mix, and promotions can vary by sailing.

      Spa, Gym, and Wellness

MSC Seaside includes spa and fitness facilities, giving guests the usual mix of gym access, thermal areas, spa treatments, salon services, and wellness options.

The gym is a good option if you want to offset the buffet, specialty dining, and that extra slice of pizza you were definitely just “sampling.” Spa treatments are available for an added cost, and pricing can vary by sailing.

As with most MSC ships, watch for embarkation day spa tours or promotions if you are interested in booking treatments.

      Itineraries on MSC Seaside

MSC Seaside is scheduled to sail from Miami from May 2026 through October 2028, giving MSC another strong short-cruise option from South Florida.

During this deployment, MSC Seaside will focus on short Bahamas cruises, which makes the ship a good fit for quick getaways, first-time MSC cruisers, and anyone who wants to pair a Florida trip with a few nights at sea.

      3-Night Bahamas Cruises

MSC Seaside is scheduled to offer 3-night Bahamas cruises visiting Nassau and Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve during the following periods:

      Sailing PeriodItinerary
May 2026 through August 2027Miami, Nassau, Ocean Cay, Miami
November 2027 through October 2028Miami, Nassau, Ocean Cay, Miami

These shorter sailings are a nice way to try MSC Seaside without committing to a full weeklong cruise. They also include Ocean Cay, which is a big plus if you want MSC’s private island experience on a quick trip.

      4-Night Bahamas Cruises

MSC Seaside is also scheduled to offer 4-night Bahamas cruises visiting Nassau and Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve during these periods:

      Sailing PeriodItinerary
May 2026 through October 2026Miami, Nassau, Ocean Cay, Miami
November 2027 through October 2028Miami, Nassau, Ocean Cay, Miami

The 4-night version gives you a little more breathing room than the 3-night sailing while still keeping the trip short and easy. For many cruisers, this may be the better pick if pricing is close, since that extra night can make the cruise feel less rushed.

Who Is MSC Seaside Best For?

MSC Seaside is a good fit for cruisers who want:

A large MSC ship with lots to do
A warm-weather cruise with strong outdoor spaces
A ship that feels connected to the ocean
Families who want pools, slides, kids clubs, bowling, and activities
Couples who want stylish lounges, outdoor bars, and specialty dining
MSC Yacht Club guests who want a private retreat on a big ship
Cruisers who want something more outdoor-focused than Meraviglia Class

MSC Seaside may not be the best fit if you prefer smaller ships, colder-weather itineraries, or a layout built mostly around indoor spaces. For that, Meraviglia Class may be the better match.

But for Caribbean-style cruising, MSC Seaside makes a lot of sense. This is the kind of ship that wants sunshine, sea days, pool time, and evenings outside.

      Final Thoughts on MSC Seaside

MSC Seaside is an important ship for MSC because it changed the way the line thought about warm-weather cruising.

Instead of building another ship around mostly interior public spaces, MSC created a ship that pushes guests outside and closer to the water. The outdoor promenade, water park, zip line, pools, sea-view dining, and open-air design all support that idea.

MSC Seaside is not MSC’s newest ship anymore, and it is not as massive as the World Class. But it still has a strong identity. That matters.

For families, it offers plenty to do. For couples, it has stylish lounges, specialty dining, and ocean views. For Yacht Club guests, it offers a quieter premium experience inside a larger ship. And for anyone who wants a cruise ship that actually reminds you that you are at sea, MSC Seaside still does that very well.

If your ideal MSC cruise involves warm weather, outdoor decks, pool time, casual wandering, and a ship with a sunny personality, MSC Seaside should absolutely be on your list.
