MSC World Asia Guide: What We Know So Far About MSC’s New World Class Ship

MSC World Asia is one of the most anticipated new ships coming to the MSC Cruises fleet. Scheduled to debut in December 2026, MSC World Asia will be the third ship in MSC’s World Class, following MSC World Europa and MSC World America.

Like her sister ships, MSC World Asia will be a massive, modern cruise ship built around MSC’s newest mega-ship platform. That means big public spaces, dramatic design, a large MSC Yacht Club, family zones, specialty restaurants, bars, lounges, entertainment venues and plenty of “yes, this is actually on a cruise ship” moments.

But MSC World Asia will also have her own personality.

MSC has described the ship with the theme “The Art of Cruising,” with design touches inspired by Asia’s culture, art and landscapes. One of the headline design features announced so far is a large dragon sculpture in the World Promenade, measuring about 39 feet long and 29 feet wide, suspended 32 feet in the air.

In simple terms, MSC World Asia looks like it will take the World Class formula and give it a more refined, globally inspired feel.

And yes, even though the name is World Asia, the ship is scheduled to debut in the Mediterranean, not Asia. Cruise ship names love to keep us humble.

Quick Answer: What Is MSC World Asia Known For?

MSC World Asia is best known as MSC Cruises’ upcoming third World Class ship, scheduled to begin sailing in December 2026 with 7-night Mediterranean itineraries. The ship is expected to feature World Class favorites such as the World Promenade, MSC Yacht Club, The Harbour, Luna Park, specialty dining, family zones, pools, hot tubs, bars, lounges and new design elements inspired by Asia.

Because the ship is not yet complete, some details may change before launch. This guide focuses on what MSC has officially announced so far.

MSC has stated that MSC World Asia will begin 7-night Mediterranean itineraries on December 4, 2026.

What Makes MSC World Asia Different?

MSC World Asia will be part of the same World Class family as MSC World Europa and MSC World America, but it should not be treated as an exact copy of either ship.

MSC World Europa introduced the class. MSC World America adapted the concept more directly for the North American market. MSC World Asia appears to be taking the World Class platform in a more design-forward direction, with Asian-inspired touches and a more global “art of cruising” theme.

That does not mean the ship will be an Asian itinerary ship at launch. It means MSC is using Asian cultural and design influence as part of the ship’s onboard identity.

The ship is expected to include returning World Class favorites alongside new concepts. MSC has specifically mentioned returning venues such as The Harbour and Luna Park, along with new spaces such as The Clubhouse.

That is probably the right way to think about MSC World Asia: familiar World Class bones, but with a new personality layered on top.

MSC World Asia and the World Class

MSC World Asia will be the third launched ship in MSC’s World Class.

The currently launched World Class ships are:

      ShipEntered ServicePrimary Personality
MSC World Europa2022Original World Class ship with a more international and European feel
MSC World America2025U.S.-focused World Class ship sailing from Miami
MSC World AsiaScheduled 2026Asian-inspired World Class ship debuting in the Mediterranean

World Class ships are MSC’s largest and most modern cruise ships. They are designed around multiple districts, large public spaces, big dining variety, family areas, outdoor attractions, and the dramatic open-air World Promenade at the aft of the ship.

If the Meraviglia Class is MSC’s indoor-promenade, all-weather mega-ship family, and the Seaside Class is MSC’s outdoor-focused warm-weather ship family, the World Class is MSC’s full mega-resort platform.

These are the ships MSC uses when it wants to make a statement. MSC World Asia is very much part of that strategy.

MSC World Asia Design and Atmosphere

MSC has not yet released every final design detail for MSC World Asia, but the theme is already clear.

The ship is being positioned around The Art of Cruising, with a stylish international atmosphere and refined design details. MSC’s official ship page says the ship is designed for “unique and unforgettable experiences at sea” with attention to detail and craftsmanship.

The most eye-catching detail announced so far is the dragon sculpture in the World Promenade. On a World Class ship, that matters because the World Promenade is one of the most important public spaces onboard.

On MSC World Europa and MSC World America, the aft promenade is a signature area. It gives the ships their open-air, resort-like feel and serves as a place for dining, drinks, entertainment, views and casual wandering.

On MSC World Asia, that space appears likely to become even more visually distinctive.

      Cabins on MSC World Asia

MSC World Asia will offer a wide variety of accommodations, including interior cabins, ocean view cabins, balcony cabins, suites, family options and MSC Yacht Club suites.

MSC’s cabin page for MSC World Asia says the ship will include everything from balcony cabins and Infinite Ocean View cabins with a sliding window to cabins overlooking the World Promenade and luxury suites in the MSC Yacht Club.

That means guests should expect a broad cabin lineup similar to other World Class ships.

      Likely cabin categories include:

      Interior cabins
      Ocean view cabins
      Infinite Ocean View cabins
      Balcony cabins
      World Promenade-view cabins
      Suites
      Family accommodations
      MSC Yacht Club suites

For most cruisers, balcony cabins will probably be the sweet spot, especially on Mediterranean itineraries. Having private outdoor space can add a lot when sailing from port to port in Europe.

The Infinite Ocean View cabins may also be interesting for guests who want a large window experience without a traditional balcony. These cabins have appeared on other newer MSC ships and can be a nice middle-ground option.

World Promenade-view cabins may appeal to guests who like people-watching and ship energy, but they may not be the best choice for light sleepers or anyone who wants the quietest possible room.

Best Cabin Picks on MSC World Asia

For most guests, a traditional balcony cabin will likely be the safest and most flexible choice on MSC World Asia.

If you want the best value, an interior cabin may make sense, especially if you plan to spend most of your time exploring the ship and ports. On a ship this large, your cabin may mostly be a place to sleep, shower and recover.

If you want something different, look at Infinite Ocean View cabins or World Promenade-view cabins once pricing and availability are clear.

If you want the large-ship experience but with a quieter private retreat, MSC Yacht Club will likely be the biggest upgrade.

And if you are booking early, pay attention to location. World Class ships are big. A “quick walk back to the cabin” can easily turn into a small hiking expedition if you choose poorly.

MSC Yacht Club on MSC World Asia

MSC World Asia is expected to include MSC Yacht Club, MSC’s private ship-within-a-ship experience.

While MSC has not yet released every final Yacht Club detail for MSC World Asia, World Class ships typically make Yacht Club a major part of the onboard experience. Guests can generally expect a private lounge, private restaurant, private pool deck, concierge service, butler service and exclusive suite categories.

On a ship this large, Yacht Club can matter a lot.

The main ship will likely be lively, busy and packed with things to do. Yacht Club gives guests a quieter place to retreat when they want a calmer experience.

That is the big appeal of Yacht Club on World Class ships. You get access to the full mega-ship experience, but you do not have to live in the middle of the crowd all week.

      Dining on MSC World Asia

MSC World Asia is expected to have a major dining lineup, with more than 40 bars, lounges and restaurants across the ship. MSC has announced that the ship will include six specialty restaurant concepts, including familiar MSC favorites.

MSC’s official ship page currently lists dining venues and concepts including:

      VenueTypeNotes
La Foglia RestaurantMain RestaurantMediterranean and international specialties with a changing menu
Esagono / Hexagon RestaurantCasual / MediterraneanRelaxed dining with ocean views
      Butcher’s CutSpecialtyMSC’s American-style steakhouse
HOLA! Tacos & CantinaSpecialty / CasualMexican-inspired casual dining
Kaito TeppanyakiSpecialtyJapanese grill experience with live cooking
Pizza & BurgerCasualCasual comfort food option
MSC Yacht Club RestaurantYacht ClubPrivate dining for Yacht Club guests

MSC’s site describes La Foglia Restaurant as a main restaurant with Mediterranean and international specialties and a daily changing menu. Esagono / Hexagon Restaurant is described as a relaxed Mediterranean dining spot with ocean views.

This is not the complete dining picture yet, but it gives us a good early sense of the ship.

MSC World Asia should have the broad dining variety expected on a World Class ship: main dining, buffet-style options, casual food, specialty dining and Yacht Club dining.

Specialty Dining on MSC World Asia

MSC has already confirmed several specialty dining concepts for MSC World Asia.

Butcher’s Cut returns as MSC’s American-style steakhouse. This is one of MSC’s most familiar specialty restaurants and usually one of the easiest choices for American cruisers to understand.

HOLA! Tacos & Cantina is also listed for the ship, giving MSC World Asia a more casual Mexican-inspired specialty option. This is useful because not every specialty meal needs to be a long, formal dinner.

Kaito Teppanyaki is also expected onboard. This is the interactive Japanese grill venue where the cooking is part of the entertainment. It tends to work well for groups, families with older kids and anyone who wants dinner to feel like more of an event.

MSC has also indicated that MSC World Asia will include six specialty restaurant concepts overall, so more details may be released as the ship gets closer to launch.

Bars and Lounges on MSC World Asia

MSC World Asia is expected to have a large bar and lounge lineup, with MSC’s official page mentioning 19 bars and lounges.

      Known or listed venues include:

      VenueStyle
Masters of the SeaPub-style bar with onboard brewery
Zest Juice BarFresh juices, smoothies, power shakes and fruit bowls
Fizz Champagne BarChampagne and sparkling wine venue
Dolce Vita BarClassic MSC lounge-style bar
MSC Yacht Club LoungePrivate Yacht Club lounge

One of the most interesting early details is Masters of the Sea. MSC says this will be the first version of the venue to feature an onboard brewery, with brewmaster Teo Musso working with MSC to create signature craft beers brewed at sea.

That is a very fun addition, and honestly, it is exactly the kind of detail that gives a ship its own personality.

World Class ships already have a lot of bars and lounges, but a microbrewery-style pub gives MSC World Asia something that should appeal to guests who want more than the standard pool bar and cocktail lounge rotation.

      Entertainment on MSC World Asia

Entertainment is one of the areas where MSC World Asia is already starting to sound very interesting.

MSC has announced that the ship will include a redesigned Luna Park, the return of The Harbour, and a new family-focused space called The Clubhouse. The ship is also expected to feature more than 40 bars, lounges and restaurants in total.

Key announced entertainment and activity areas include:

      Venue / AreaWhat to Expect
Luna ParkInteractive entertainment and game-style experiences
The HarbourOutdoor family and activity zone
The ClubhouseHigh-energy family space for creative play
      DoremilandKids club space
World PromenadeOutdoor aft promenade and social area
      Family Aventura DistrictFamily-focused activity district

The World Class ships are designed around multiple districts, and MSC World Asia appears likely to continue that approach.

For guests, this should mean entertainment spread across the ship instead of relying on one theater and one lounge to carry the whole schedule.

Family Activities on MSC World Asia

Families should be a major focus on MSC World Asia.

MSC has announced family-focused areas including The Clubhouse, The Harbour, Luna Park and Doremiland. Recent coverage of MSC’s announced family spaces described The Harbour as an open-air theme park-style area with a ropes course, waterslides, a dry slide, playground areas and evening entertainment features. It also described Doremiland as a 10,000-square-foot kids club with age-specific spaces.

This sounds very much in line with what MSC has been doing on MSC World America, where family districts and top-deck attractions play a major role.

MSC World Asia is not just being built as a “nice ship with a kids club.” It appears to be designed as a family-friendly mega ship with full family districts, activity areas and entertainment zones.

That should make it a strong fit for families sailing the Mediterranean, especially those who want a ship with more to do than a traditional Europe-heavy itinerary might offer.

Pools, Water Features and Outdoor Spaces

MSC World Asia is expected to offer a large pool and hot tub lineup. Travel Market Report noted that the ship is expected to feature seven pools and 13 hot tubs.

That is important because Mediterranean itineraries can be very port-heavy. On many European cruises, the ship matters less on port days because passengers spend long days ashore. But on a ship like MSC World Asia, sea days and evenings onboard should feel like a major part of the vacation.

The Harbour and family activity areas should also give the ship a strong outdoor personality, especially for families.

As with any large MSC ship, pool strategy will matter. If you want the best chairs in the most obvious places, do not wander out late on a sea day and expect the chair fairy to save you. Explore early, learn the ship and find the less obvious spots.

That is not overplanning. That is just cruise survival with a beverage package.

      MSC World Asia Itineraries

MSC World Asia is scheduled to begin sailing 7-night Mediterranean itineraries starting December 4, 2026.

      Mediterranean Cruises

MSC World Asia’s Mediterranean deployment should appeal to cruisers who want a large, modern ship but also want classic European ports.

Mediterranean cruises often include a mix of historic cities, coastal towns, beach destinations and food-focused ports. The ship should be especially appealing to guests who want the sightseeing of Europe during the day and a full mega-ship experience at night.

Because MSC frequently uses interporting in Europe, guests may be able to embark in different ports depending on the sailing. That means the “start” of the cruise can vary based on where you board.

Before booking, check the exact itinerary, embarkation port, port order and sailing date.

Who Is MSC World Asia Best For?

MSC World Asia should be a good fit for cruisers who want:

A brand-new MSC World Class ship
A large Mediterranean cruise ship with lots to do
A ship with design touches inspired by Asia
Families who want major kids areas and activity zones
Couples who want stylish bars, specialty dining and big-ship energy
Yacht Club guests who want a premium retreat on a mega ship
Cruisers who liked MSC World Europa or MSC World America and want the next version of the class
Travelers who want a European itinerary without giving up big-ship amenities

MSC World Asia may not be the best fit for cruisers who want a small, quiet, traditional ship. This is a World Class ship, which means it will be large, busy and full of features.

It also may not be the right pick if you are looking for a ship actually sailing in Asia at launch. Despite the name, MSC World Asia is scheduled to debut in the Mediterranean.

Final Thoughts on MSC World Asia

MSC World Asia is shaping up to be one of MSC Cruises’ most exciting upcoming ships.

It will bring another World Class ship into the fleet, but with its own identity, Mediterranean launch schedule and Asian-inspired design elements. The ship should offer many of the things people now expect from MSC’s newest ships: big dining variety, stylish bars, family zones, Yacht Club, entertainment spaces, pools, outdoor areas and a dramatic World Promenade.

The big thing to remember is that this is still a ship in development. Some details may change before launch, and we will know much more as MSC releases final deck plans, menus, entertainment schedules and onboard photos.

But based on what MSC has announced so far, MSC World Asia looks like it will be more than just “another World Class ship.”

It looks like MSC is trying to give the class a new personality.

And for cruisers who love new ships, Mediterranean itineraries and the idea of a massive floating resort with a little extra design flair, MSC World Asia is definitely one to watch.
