    MSC Voyagers Club Earning Points

How to Earn and Keep MSC Voyagers Club Points

MSC Cruises’ Voyagers Club rewards loyal guests with perks, discounts, and onboard privileges. But unlike other cruise lines that focus on how much you spend, MSC’s system revolves around what you book and when you book it. You’ll earn points based on:

    1. Your Experience level (Bella, Fantastica, Aurea, or Yacht Club)

    2. Any prepaid onboard services before you sail

    3. A handful of bonus opportunities for things like early booking or birthdays. These points determine your Voyagers Club tier – Classic, Silver, Gold, Diamond, or Blue Diamond – and the higher your tier, the better your perks.

How MSC Voyagers Club Points Are Calculated

MSC awards points in three ways: based on the Experience you purchase, prepaid services, and bonus activities.

      Points from Your Experience

Every MSC cruise includes one of four “Experience” levels. Your Experience determines the number of base points you earn depending on how long your cruise is.

      Experience<5 Nights5–9 Nights10+ Nights
      Bella200500700
      Fantastica4007001,000
      Aurea6001,0001,500
      Yacht Club8001,5002,000

Key detail: Points are awarded per person, not per cabin. If you’re upgraded for free, you’ll only earn points for your original Experience, not the higher one. Booking 12+ months in advance under Voyagers Exclusives earns double points. Booking the full World Cruise earns triple points (partial segments don’t count).

Example: A 7-night Fantastica cruise earns 700 base points – double that to 1,400 if you booked early enough to qualify for the Voyagers Exclusives promotion.

      Points from Prepaid Onboard Services

MSC also rewards you for prepaying add-ons before your cruise (not onboard). You’ll earn 100 points for every $150 (or €150) spent on prepaid packages such as beverage packages, excursions, spa or fitness services, and internet packages.
How it works: If you buy $300 in pre-cruise add-ons, you’ll earn 200 points. If those purchases apply to your whole cabin (like a drink package), the points are split evenly among guests.

Example: Four people sharing a $600 beverage package each earn 100 points. If one person buys a $600 spa package, that traveler earns 400 points.

      Bonus Points

MSC offers several ways to earn even more:

      BonusPoints
      Book cruise with beverage package+200
      Add internet package+100
      Both beverage + internet+300 total
Booked within 3 months of your birthday+200
      Update contact info before sailing+100
Voyagers Exclusives (12+ months in advance)Double base points + 5% discount + $50 onboard credit
MSC World Cruise (full voyage only)Triple points
⏱ Points post about 10 days after your cruise ends.

How to Keep Your Points (and Avoid Losing Them)

Points and Voyagers Club membership remain active for 5 years from your last cruise. To keep your points: take another cruise within that 5-year window. Even a short 3-night sailing resets your expiration date. If you go 5+ years without sailing MSC, all your points expire and your Voyagers Club membership resets to Welcome level.

Tip: You can rejoin anytime, but you’ll start from zero with a new membership number.

      Recovering Points from Past Cruises

If you’ve sailed MSC before joining Voyagers Club, you might still get credit:

      Enrollment TimingPoints Awarded
Joined within 3 months after cruiseFull cruise points
Joined within 3–6 months500 fixed points
Joined after 6 monthsNo retroactive points

      MSC Voyagers Club Tiers

Here’s how many points you need to climb the ranks:

      TierPoints Range
      Welcome0
      Classic1 – 2,199
      Silver2,200 – 4,299
      Gold4,300 – 9,999
      Diamond10,000 – 24,999
      Blue Diamond25,000+

Note: The new Blue Diamond tier was introduced in late 2024 and adds exclusive events, Yacht Club check-in access, and a behind-the-scenes tour.

      Example Scenarios

Example 1 – 7-Night Caribbean Cruise, Fantastica Experience
      Base points: 700
      Prepaid excursions: +200
      Birthday booking: +200
      ✅ Total = 1,100 points

      Example 2 – 10-Night Mediterranean, Aurea Experience
      Base points: 1,500
      Early booking (12+ months): double = +1,500
      Beverage + internet packages: +300
      ✅ Total = 3,300 points

      Example 3 – 3-Night Cruise, Bella Experience
      Base points: 200
      No extras
      ✅ Total = 200 points

      Pro Tips to Maximize Points

      • Book early. Cruises booked 12+ months ahead earn double points and extra perks.
      • Prepay packages. Only pre-cruise purchases count toward points.
      • Use your Voyagers Club number on every booking.
      • Enroll each traveler. Everyone earns individually, even kids.
      • Full World Cruises triple your points (partial voyages don’t).
      • Track your account about 10 days post-cruise via your MSC Voyagers Club dashboard.

      Frequently Asked Questions

      Do onboard purchases earn points?
No. Only services purchased before the cruise count.

Can I transfer or combine points with my spouse or partner?
No. Points are personal and non-transferable between partners.

      Do kids earn points?
Yes – they earn points like adults but can’t use all benefits.

When do I see my new tier?
Points are posted after your cruise ends; your new tier activates on your next sailing.

Can I reapply if I let my membership expire?
Yes, but you’ll start fresh with zero points.

MSC’s loyalty system can look complex at first, but once you understand the structure, it’s easy to work to your advantage. The best strategy? Book early, prepay packages, and choose higher Experience levels. These small moves can easily double or triple your points and move you closer to Diamond or Blue Diamond status faster than you might expect.
