MSC Seascape Arrives in Galveston, Marking MSC Cruises’ Texas Debut

MSC Cruises has officially arrived in Texas. The MSC Seascape reached the Port of Galveston on November 7, 2025, becoming the first MSC ship to homeport in the Lone Star State. The arrival signals a major expansion of MSC’s U.S. footprint and opens up a brand-new option for cruisers in the central and southern United States.

A Big Move for MSC in America

The Seascape will begin sailing regular 7-night Western Caribbean itineraries starting this week, departing from Galveston’s new Cruise Terminal 16. Voyages will visit Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Roatán, offering a classic mix of beach relaxation and adventure.

The move is part of MSC’s ongoing effort to grow its presence in North America, joining existing homeports in Miami and Port Canaveral. With Galveston now in the mix, MSC becomes one of the few major lines operating from all three major southern U.S. cruise hubs.

Rubén Rodríguez, President of MSC Cruises USA, said the addition of Galveston “represents another important milestone as we continue to bring our distinctive European-style cruising experience to more guests across the country.”

      Why Galveston Matters

Galveston has become one of the fastest-growing cruise ports in the U.S., with record passenger numbers and growing demand from Texas and Midwest travelers who prefer to drive rather than fly. The new Terminal 16, built in partnership with the Galveston Wharves, is equipped to handle larger ships and modern sustainability features.

For MSC, this move expands access to new markets. Cruisers from Dallas, Houston, and surrounding states now have a convenient port option for MSC’s Caribbean sailings.

The arrival also positions MSC as a stronger competitor to Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Disney Cruise Line, all of which already operate out of Galveston.

      About the Ship

The MSC Seascape is one of MSC’s newest ships, launched in 2022 and designed for warm-weather cruising. Highlights include:

      • Infinity pools and glass-floored skywalks that bring guests closer to the sea
      • Robotron, an interactive robotic arm thrill ride that swings guests high above the deck
      • A multi-deck atrium with panoramic ocean views
      • The MSC Yacht Club, a private luxury enclave with its own pool deck and restaurant
      • Expanded dining and entertainment options, including Butcher’s Cut Steakhouse and Le Cabaret Rouge

The ship carries more than 5,000 passengers and showcases the “Seaside EVO” design, which connects indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly — perfect for Caribbean itineraries.

      Environmental Features

The Seascape also reflects MSC’s investment in more sustainable cruising. It’s fitted with advanced wastewater treatment systems, shore-power connectivity, and hybrid exhaust cleaning technology. While not LNG-powered like the upcoming MSC World America, it represents a significant step forward in efficiency and emissions reduction.

Galveston’s terminal infrastructure includes shore-power readiness, which could support future plug-in capabilities as Texas ports continue upgrading their systems.

      What Cruisers Can Expect

For travelers, this new homeport brings several benefits:

      • Easier access for Midwest and Southern cruisers who prefer to drive instead of fly
      • Competitive pricing, with MSC continuing its trend of offering strong value for families and first-time cruisers
      • Distinctive European flavor, including international dining and diverse entertainment styles not typically found on other lines sailing from Galveston

MSC’s entry also increases cruise capacity in the region, which could lead to better deals and more options for travelers planning Western Caribbean getaways.
