MSC Poesia Spa and Gym Guide

MSC Poesia has a full-service MSC Aurea Spa on Deck 13 and a large MSC Gym powered by Technogym one deck above on Deck 14.

The spa goes well beyond basic massage rooms. It includes a thermal area with a sauna, steam room, whirlpool, relaxation room and salt room, along with hydrotherapy features, beauty services and treatment rooms. The fitness center covers approximately 5,460 square feet and includes cardio equipment, free weights and weight machines.

For passengers who want to balance time around the pool with a workout or a quieter spa afternoon, Poesia has a fairly complete wellness setup.

For a broader overview of the ship, see our MSC Poesia Ship Guide.

      MSC Aurea Spa

The MSC Aurea Spa is located on Deck 13 and covers approximately 12,500 square feet.

The spa includes treatment rooms, a thermal area, hair and nail services and several hydrotherapy experiences.

      Available spa facilities include:

      • Massages
      • Body treatments
      • Facial treatments
      • Sauna
      • Steam room
      • Whirlpool
      • Relaxation room
      • Salt room
      • Emotional showers
      • Vertical Kneipp hydrotherapy
      • Hair salon
      • Nail salon

That makes the Aurea Spa much more than simply a place to book a massage.

Passengers who enjoy thermal suites should find a good variety of spaces to move between, while those primarily interested in treatments can book massages, facials and other services separately.

      MSC Poesia Thermal Area

The thermal area is one of the highlights of the spa.

It includes a sauna, steam room, whirlpool, relaxation room and salt room.

This gives passengers several ways to unwind without booking a traditional massage or facial.

The thermal area is separate from the public hot tubs around the pool deck. If you are primarily looking for outdoor whirlpools, see our MSC Poesia Pools and Hot Tubs Guide.

Access rules and pricing can change, so check your booking benefits and current spa pricing before or after boarding.

Sauna, Steam Room and Salt Room

MSC Poesia has both a sauna and steam room within the Aurea Spa.

That gives passengers the choice between a dry-heat sauna and a more humid steam-room experience.

There is also a dedicated Salt Room, providing another quieter relaxation space within the thermal area.

Having all three helps make Poesia’s thermal experience more varied than a basic spa consisting of only a sauna and treatment rooms.

      Spa Whirlpool

The thermal area also includes its own whirlpool.

This should not be confused with the outdoor hot tubs around the main pools or the private whirlpools available to MSC Yacht Club guests.

For passengers using the thermal area, the spa whirlpool provides another relaxation option without having to head out to the pool deck.

      Emotional Showers

MSC Poesia’s spa includes multisensory Emotional Showers.

These combine water with sensory elements such as changing light, creating a different experience from a standard shower.

They are part of the broader thermal and hydrotherapy experience rather than a standalone spa treatment.

      Vertical Kneipp Hydrotherapy

The Aurea Spa also includes a Vertical Kneipp feature.

This uses alternating water temperatures as part of a hydrotherapy experience.

It is another example of Poesia having a relatively complete thermal area rather than simply offering a sauna and steam room.

      Massages and Spa Treatments

MSC Aurea Spa offers massages, body treatments and facial treatments.

The exact treatment menu and pricing can change, so it makes more sense to check the current options for your sailing than to plan around an older spa menu.

If there is a particular treatment or appointment time that matters to you, it can be worth checking availability early in the cruise.

Sea days are naturally popular times for spa appointments, while port days may offer more flexibility depending on passenger demand.

Hair Salon, Nail Salon and Barber

The wellness facilities also include several grooming services.

The hair salon offers services such as cuts, color and styling, which can be useful before a formal evening or special occasion.

There is also a nail salon offering hand and foot treatments.

A Gentlemen’s Barber is located one deck above on Deck 14.

That gives Poesia a fairly complete lineup of beauty and grooming services without passengers needing to wait until they return to port.

      MSC Gym Powered by Technogym

The MSC Gym powered by Technogym is located on Deck 14.

At approximately 5,460 square feet, it is a substantial fitness center for a ship of Poesia’s size.

      The gym includes:

      • Cardio equipment
      • Free weights
      • Weight machines
      • Other strength and fitness equipment

That should be enough for most passengers who want to maintain their normal workout routine during the cruise.

Whether your focus is cardio, strength training or a combination of both, you are not limited to a handful of machines in the corner of the ship.

      Cardio Equipment

The gym includes a range of cardio equipment.

This is particularly useful for runners because Poesia’s outdoor walking route is not designed as a true dedicated jogging track.

If you want to maintain a consistent running pace, the gym is likely to be the better option.

For casual walking and getting some fresh air, the outdoor Power Walking Track remains available on Deck 14.

      Free Weights and Strength Training

Poesia’s fitness center also includes free weights and weight machines.

That means passengers interested in strength training are not limited to cardio workouts.

The exact equipment selection may change, but the gym is designed to support both cardio and resistance training.

For anyone who trains regularly at home, that makes it much easier to put together a normal workout while onboard.

Walking and Running on MSC Poesia

MSC Poesia has a Power Walking Track on Deck 14.

The important thing to know is that it is not a conventional dedicated jogging track.

The route is not marked and can be obstructed, which makes it better suited to casual walking than serious running.

If your goal is simply to get outside and accumulate some steps, it should work well.

If you are training, running at a specific pace or want an uninterrupted workout, the treadmills in the gym will probably be the better choice.

We cover the walking route and other upper-deck recreation in our MSC Poesia Outdoor Activities, Games and Arcades Guide.

      Fitness Classes

Fitness classes and organized workout sessions may be offered during the cruise.

The exact schedule can change, and some activities may have an additional charge.

Check MSC for Me or the onboard fitness schedule after boarding to see which classes are available during your sailing.

This is one area where checking the schedule early can help if you want to build workouts into your sea days.

      Top 15 Exclusive Solarium

The Top 15 Exclusive Solarium is located on Deck 15.

It covers approximately 6,320 square feet, has seating for around 90 guests and is reserved for Aurea guests.

Top 15 is not part of the thermal area and should not be confused with the spa itself.

Instead, it is an outdoor relaxation area where eligible guests can get away from the busier main pool deck.

That can make it an appealing complement to the indoor spa experience, particularly on a warm-weather sea day.

Does Booking Aurea Include the Spa?

It is important to separate the MSC Aurea Spa from MSC’s Aurea booking experience.

They share the Aurea name, but that does not mean every spa service is automatically included with an Aurea booking.

Spa treatments, thermal-area access and other wellness services can have their own pricing and access rules.

Aurea guests do receive access to the Top 15 Exclusive Solarium on Poesia, but check the current benefits attached to your specific booking for any additional spa-related inclusions.

      Spa and Gym Tips

If you plan to book a massage or treatment, check availability early rather than waiting until the final day of the cruise.

Sea-day appointments can be popular because passengers are spending the entire day onboard.

If you mainly want to use the thermal area, check whether thermal access is available individually or through a package before purchasing other spa services.

For workouts, mornings are often a natural time for passengers to head to the gym, so trying a different time of day may give you a quieter experience.

And if you are a runner, plan on using the gym rather than relying on the Deck 14 Power Walking Track for a serious workout.

Is the MSC Poesia Spa Worth It?

That depends mostly on how much you value thermal facilities.

Passengers who only want an occasional massage can simply book a treatment when something interests them.

The more compelling part of Poesia’s spa is the range of thermal facilities.

Having a sauna, steam room, whirlpool, salt room, relaxation room and hydrotherapy experiences gives you several ways to spend time there beyond a single appointment.

If you regularly use cruise ship thermal suites, the Aurea Spa is worth checking out early in the cruise so you can compare the current access options and pricing.

Our Take on the MSC Poesia Spa and Gym

MSC Poesia has a well-rounded spa and fitness setup.

The Aurea Spa offers a legitimate thermal experience with a sauna, steam room, whirlpool, salt room and relaxation area, along with massages, beauty treatments and hydrotherapy features.

One deck above, the Technogym fitness center provides enough space and equipment for both cardio and strength workouts.

The main limitation is for runners. While there is a Power Walking Track outside, it is not marked and can be obstructed, so the gym will be the better choice for anyone who wants a consistent running workout.

For everyone else, Poesia provides a nice balance.

You can work out in the morning, spend part of the day around the pools and hot tubs, or trade both for a quieter afternoon in the spa.

That gives passengers several different ways to relax or stay active without wellness becoming the entire focus of the cruise.
