Dining on MSC Poesia is relatively straightforward compared with some of MSC Cruises’ newest ships. Rather than having a long list of restaurants spread across the ship, Poesia focuses on two main dining rooms, a large buffet and pizzeria, and two specialty restaurants.
The 2026 updates also bring some important additions to the ship. Butcher’s Cut gives Poesia a traditional steakhouse option, while MSC Yacht Club guests have their own dedicated restaurant and private Bar & Grill.
For most passengers, meals will revolve around the main dining rooms and Villa Pompeiana & L’Obelisco buffet, with Butcher’s Cut and Kaito Sushi Bar available when you want something different.
Here’s what you need to know about dining on MSC Poesia.

MSC Poesia’s main restaurants, buffet and specialty venues are spread primarily across Decks 5, 6, 7 and 13, while Yacht Club also has a private outdoor Bar & Grill on Deck 16.
What Dining Is Included on MSC Poesia?
Your MSC Poesia cruise fare includes the ship’s two main dining rooms, Le Fontane and Il Palladio, along with the Villa Pompeiana & L’Obelisco buffet and pizzeria.
That gives most passengers two primary ways to eat.
The main dining rooms offer a traditional sit-down restaurant experience with waiter service and changing menus, while the buffet provides more flexibility and a much wider choice of foods throughout the day.
Butcher’s Cut and Kaito Sushi Bar are specialty restaurants and carry an additional charge.
MSC Yacht Club guests also have access to their private Yacht Club Restaurant and Bar & Grill.
Le Fontane Main Dining Room
Le Fontane is one of MSC Poesia’s two main dining rooms.
Located on Deck 5, it seats approximately 771 guests and is the larger of the ship’s two main restaurants.
Dinner in the main dining room is included in your cruise fare and typically features a multi-course menu that changes throughout the cruise. Expect appetizers, soups and salads, pasta dishes, meat and seafood entrees, and desserts.
MSC also frequently incorporates Mediterranean and Italian dishes into its menus, along with more familiar cruise staples.
Breakfast and lunch may also be offered in one of MSC Poesia’s main dining rooms. The restaurant used and operating schedule can vary by sailing, so check the MSC for Me app or the Daily Program once onboard.
For passengers who prefer a quieter sit-down meal instead of visiting the buffet, main dining room breakfast or lunch can be worth seeking out when available.
Il Palladio Main Dining Room
Il Palladio is MSC Poesia’s second main dining room.
It is located on Deck 6 and seats approximately 730 passengers.
The overall dining experience is similar to Le Fontane, with waiter service and meals included in the cruise fare.
Your specific dinner arrangements will depend on your booking and cruise, but there is no need to worry too much about which of the two restaurants you receive. Both serve as MSC Poesia’s primary traditional dining rooms.
Like Le Fontane, Il Palladio may also be used for breakfast or lunch during the cruise. The exact restaurant and schedule can change depending on the sailing.
Villa Pompeiana & L’Obelisco Buffet and Pizzeria
Villa Pompeiana & L’Obelisco is MSC Poesia’s main buffet and casual dining venue.
Located on Deck 13, it has seating for approximately 737 guests and combines the ship’s self-service buffet with its pizzeria.
For many passengers, this will be one of the most frequently visited places on the ship.
The buffet typically operates for extended periods throughout the day, beginning with breakfast and continuing through lunch and dinner. Food is usually available during additional periods between traditional meal times as well, although individual stations may open and close throughout the day.
Exact operating hours can vary by itinerary and day, so the MSC for Me app and Daily Program are the best places to check onboard.
Breakfast at the Buffet
Breakfast is usually when Villa Pompeiana & L’Obelisco is busiest.
You can expect a broad selection of typical cruise breakfast foods, including hot breakfast items, breads, pastries, fruit, cereal and other lighter options.
The buffet is particularly convenient on port mornings when you want to eat quickly before leaving the ship.
If you have more time and prefer a slower breakfast, check whether one of the main dining rooms is serving breakfast that morning.
Lunch and Dinner at the Buffet
Lunch usually brings a larger variety of hot dishes, salads, sandwiches and international options.
At dinner, the buffet provides an alternative for anyone who doesn’t want the more structured main dining room experience.
This can be useful after a long port day, when traveling with a group that wants different foods, or when you simply want to eat on your own schedule.
Poesia does not have the huge collection of complimentary quick-service restaurants found on newer ships such as MSC World America, so the buffet plays an especially important role here.
Pizza on MSC Poesia
The pizzeria is part of Villa Pompeiana & L’Obelisco.
MSC’s pizza has developed a strong following among regular MSC cruisers, and Poesia gives you access to it without an additional charge.
Pizza also makes the buffet particularly useful outside of traditional sit-down meals when you just want something quick.
Because exact food availability changes throughout the day, don’t assume every buffet station will be operating whenever the venue itself is open.
Butcher’s Cut
Butcher’s Cut is MSC Poesia’s American-style steakhouse and one of the ship’s two specialty restaurants.
It is located on Deck 13 and seats approximately 48 guests, giving it a much smaller and more intimate feel than either the buffet or main dining rooms.
The menu centers around steaks and other steakhouse favorites, making it the most obvious choice if you’re looking for a more upscale dinner outside the included restaurants.
There is an additional charge to dine at Butcher’s Cut.

Because the restaurant has fewer than 50 seats, reservations are a good idea if Butcher’s Cut is an important part of your cruise plans.
Kaito Sushi Bar
Kaito Sushi Bar is located on Deck 7 and is Poesia’s second specialty dining restaurant.
With approximately 30 seats, it is even smaller than Butcher’s Cut.
Kaito provides an alternative to the steakhouse experience, focusing on sushi and Japanese-inspired dishes.
There is an additional charge to dine at Kaito.

One thing to keep in mind is that Kaito on Poesia is a sushi bar. It should not be confused with the larger Kaito restaurant complexes on some newer MSC ships that may also include Teppanyaki.
How Much Specialty Dining Does MSC Poesia Have?
MSC Poesia has a much smaller specialty dining collection than newer MSC ships.
For most guests, the specialty choices essentially come down to:
- Butcher’s Cut for steak
- Kaito Sushi Bar for sushi
That isn’t necessarily a negative.
If you’re cruising for a week, having two specialty restaurants gives you opportunities to break up the main dining room routine without feeling like you need to spend extra money every night to experience the ship’s restaurants.
It also makes deciding where to eat considerably easier than on ships with six or more specialty dining venues.
If you plan to visit both, check MSC’s current specialty dining package options before your cruise. Depending on current pricing and promotions, buying a package before sailing may offer savings compared with paying separately onboard.
MSC Yacht Club Restaurant
MSC Yacht Club guests have their own dedicated restaurant on Deck 7.
The MSC Yacht Club Restaurant seats approximately 92 guests and is reserved for passengers staying in Yacht Club accommodations.
It provides a more private sit-down dining experience separate from Poesia’s main dining rooms.
One interesting part of Poesia’s Yacht Club layout is that the restaurant is on Deck 7, while many of the other Yacht Club facilities and accommodations are much higher on the ship.

MSC Yacht Club Bar & Grill
Yacht Club guests also have access to a private Bar & Grill on Deck 16.
This provides a more casual outdoor option without requiring Yacht Club passengers to leave their private sundeck area whenever they want something to eat.
The Bar & Grill is part of the Yacht Club experience and isn’t available to passengers staying elsewhere on the ship.
Room Service on MSC Poesia
Room service is also available aboard MSC Poesia.
Exactly what is included and what carries an additional charge depends on the type of order, time of day and potentially your MSC experience or accommodation.

Room service can be particularly useful for an easy breakfast, late-night food or simply eating in your cabin when you don’t feel like heading back out to a restaurant.
Coffee, Ice Cream and Drinks
Not every food or beverage stop on Poesia is a restaurant.
Le Rendez-Vous on Deck 5 doubles as a reception bar and coffee bar, giving passengers a central place to stop for coffee and drinks.
Piraña Bar on Deck 13 serves as both a pool bar and ice cream bar.
You’ll also find numerous other bars and lounges around Poesia, including Il Grappolo d’Oro wine bar, The Zebra Bar and several outdoor pool bars.
Some beverages, specialty coffees, ice cream and other items may carry an additional charge or may be covered by an eligible drink package.

Special Dietary Needs
MSC can accommodate a variety of special dietary needs, but passengers with food allergies or specific dietary requirements should make arrangements appropriately rather than waiting until meals begin onboard.
This is particularly important for passengers with medically necessary dietary restrictions.

Main Dining Room or Buffet?
You don’t need to choose one for the entire cruise.
For dinner, we generally like using the main dining room when there’s nothing else competing for our time. Sitting down, ordering multiple courses and letting someone else handle everything is part of the traditional cruise experience.
The buffet becomes more appealing when flexibility matters.
It’s particularly useful:
- On busy port days
- When you don’t want a long dinner
- When everyone in your group wants something different
- When you’d rather eat at your own pace
- When you just want pizza or a quick meal
Breakfast is another time when we’d alternate between the two.
The buffet is faster. The main dining room, when open, can be much more relaxing.
Our Take on Dining on MSC Poesia
MSC Poesia’s dining lineup isn’t trying to compete with the enormous restaurant collections found aboard MSC’s newest ships.
Instead, it follows a more traditional cruise model.
Most meals revolve around Le Fontane, Il Palladio and the large Villa Pompeiana & L’Obelisco buffet. Butcher’s Cut and Kaito give you two specialty options when you want to change things up, while Yacht Club guests have their own separate restaurant and outdoor Bar & Grill.
For most passengers, that’s plenty of variety for a typical cruise.
The important thing is knowing which restaurants are already included in your fare before you start booking extras. Take advantage of the main dining rooms and buffet first, then use specialty dining when the menu or experience is something you genuinely want.
