MSC Grandiosa Dining Guide: Restaurants, Buffet and Specialty Dining

MSC Grandiosa has a broad mix of included and extra-cost dining, from four main dining rooms and the Marketplace Buffet to five specialty restaurant concepts. The basic choices are straightforward, but restaurant assignments, dining times, menus, prices, and operating hours can vary by sailing.

This guide explains where the major restaurants are located, what is generally included, which venues cost extra, how Aurea and MSC Yacht Club dining differ, and how to plan specialty reservations. It also includes practical observations from my Grandiosa sailing, including when the buffet was busiest and how we handled specialty reservations.

For cabins, entertainment, pools, and other onboard planning, see the MSC Grandiosa complete ship guide.

Quick Answer: What Dining Is Included on MSC Grandiosa?

The main dining rooms and Marketplace Buffet are included in the cruise fare for most guests. MSC Grandiosa’s included main restaurants are Purple Crab, La Loggia, La Perla Grigia, and Il Campo. Your assigned restaurant and dining arrangement depend on your booked Experience and sailing.

Il Campo is the dedicated flexible-dining restaurant for Aurea guests. MSC Yacht Club passengers have access to separate private dining venues that are not open to other guests.

HOLA! Tacos & Cantina, L’Atelier Bistrot, Butcher’s Cut, Kaito Sushi Bar, and Kaito Teppanyaki are specialty restaurants and cost extra. Jean-Philippe treats are also extra cost. Prices, dining packages, supplements, and availability should be checked for your cruise.

      Main Dining Rooms by Deck

MSC Grandiosa has four main dining rooms spread across decks 5, 6, and 7. Most guests are assigned a restaurant and dining time based on their booked Experience and the arrangements for their sailing.

      Purple Crab

Purple Crab is on deck 5 and is one of the ship’s included main dining rooms. Guests assigned to traditional dining should check their cruise card, booking information, or onboard materials for their restaurant and seating time.

La Loggia and La Perla Grigia

La Loggia and La Perla Grigia are on deck 6. You may also see La Perla Grigia identified as La Perle Grise in some MSC materials. Both are part of the included main dining system.

Il Campo and Aurea Flexible Dining

Il Campo is on deck 7 and is the dedicated flexible-dining restaurant for Aurea guests. Flexible dining provides more freedom than a fixed seating time, but the exact hours and procedures can change. Check your onboard information before making evening plans.

      Marketplace Buffet and Casual Food

Marketplace Buffet is on deck 15 and is the ship’s main included option for a quick or flexible meal. MSC describes it as serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night snacks, although the exact schedule should be confirmed onboard.

The buffet has multiple stations, visible preparation areas, and a mozzarella-making area. Its size gives guests plenty of choices, but the busiest periods can still feel crowded.

      When Marketplace Buffet Is Busiest

On my Grandiosa sailing, breakfast on port days was the most consistently busy period. Embarkation-day lunch was also crowded because many passengers boarded and headed directly to the buffet. Outside those peak periods, I generally did not find it unusually difficult to use.

If you want a calmer meal, avoid arriving at the same time as the main morning shore-excursion rush. On embarkation day, consider waiting until the first wave has passed if your schedule allows or eating elsewhere. Also, try the back of the buffet for as a dependable spot for an open table.

      Poolside Food and Soft Serve

The casual food near Atmosphere Bar South included familiar choices such as pizza, burgers, and hot dogs during my sailing. Staff also served soft-serve ice cream in cups or cones.

The Atmosphere Bar South is generally open during lunch through dinner times.

For a more detailed explanation of buffet service and crowd strategy across the fleet, see the MSC Cruises buffet guide.

      Specialty Restaurants on MSC Grandiosa

MSC Grandiosa currently has five named specialty restaurant concepts. They are concentrated around the ship’s indoor dining and promenade areas on decks 6 and 7. Each venue costs extra, and reservations are recommended.

      HOLA! Tacos & Cantina

HOLA! Tacos & Cantina is MSC’s casual Mexican specialty restaurant. We tried HOLA! on Grandiosa. For a detailed look at the food, menu format, and experience, read the HOLA! Tacos & Cantina review.

      Butcher’s Cut

Butcher’s Cut is MSC’s American-style steakhouse. We also dined there on Grandiosa. The Butcher’s Cut review covers the restaurant and menu in more detail than this ship overview.

      Kaito Teppanyaki

Kaito Teppanyaki combines a meal with a live cooking presentation. We tried the teppanyaki experience on Grandiosa. Because seating and performance times are limited, this is one of the venues worth arranging early. See the Kaito Teppanyaki review for the full experience.

      Kaito Sushi Bar

Kaito Sushi Bar offers sushi and other Japanese dishes in an extra-cost setting. It is separate from the teppanyaki experience, so confirm which Kaito venue you are booking.

      L’Atelier Bistrot

L’Atelier Bistrot is Grandiosa’s French-style specialty restaurant. Check out our L’Atelier Menu and Review.

      Jean-Philippe Treats

Jean-Philippe chocolates, pastries, gelato, and related treats are extra cost. Beverage-package benefits and promotional offers can change, so verify any discount or inclusion connected to your booking.

For a fleet-wide comparison of the concepts, see the MSC specialty dining restaurants guide.

      MSC Yacht Club Dining

MSC Yacht Club guests have access to a private restaurant, food service in the Top Sail Lounge, and an exclusive Grill & Bar. These venues are restricted to Yacht Club passengers.

The private dining setup is an important part of the Yacht Club experience, but this article does not attempt to cover every Yacht Club benefit. A separate MSC Grandiosa Yacht Club guide should handle the full experience, including cabins, lounge access, service, pool-deck amenities, and dining.

      Dining Packages, Prices and Reservations

MSC sells fixed-price specialty options and multi-meal dining packages on Grandiosa. The exact package choices and prices can vary by market, booking date, and sailing.

MSC’s current package terms indicate that food and gratuities are included in the package price, while selected premium items may require a supplement. Reservations remain subject to availability. Multi-meal package terms may also limit how often a particular venue can be used. Current terms indicate that Butcher’s Cut may be used once with a multi-meal package.

Review the current MSC dining package information before purchasing. A package can simplify budgeting, but it does not guarantee every restaurant or time slot.

      When to Make Specialty Reservations

Our normal approach is to make specialty reservations in person on the first day of the cruise. That remains my recommendation for Grandiosa until the current app-booking process is confirmed.

MSC for Me may display restaurant information, hours, menus, or reservation options, but app features can vary. Do not assume that every venue can be booked through the app before boarding. Once onboard, check the app and visit the specialty-dining reservation desk or the restaurants directly if needed.

The best reservation times can disappear quickly, especially for teppanyaki and popular dinner hours. If specialty dining matters to you, handle it soon after boarding instead of waiting until later in the cruise.

For more detail about package mechanics and common restrictions, read MSC dining packages explained.

Dietary Needs, Families and Room Service

Guests with allergies or dietary restrictions should notify MSC in advance and confirm their needs again onboard. MSC says the main restaurants provide more control for special dietary requests than the buffet.

The buffet offers variety, but MSC does not guarantee that cross-contamination can be avoided there. Speak with the dining team instead of relying only on signs or assumptions when a dietary issue is medically important.

Families may find the buffet and casual poolside food convenient because they allow flexible timing and familiar choices. The main dining rooms provide a more structured meal, while specialty venues vary in pace and format.

Room-service menus, delivery charges, and Experience-related inclusions can change. Check the menu connected to your cabin and booking instead of assuming every item or delivery is included.

For more, read our Specialty Diet Guide for MSC.

Best Dining Choices and Practical Tips

      • Use Marketplace Buffet for flexible timing, but avoid the main port-day breakfast rush when possible.
      • Expect embarkation-day lunch to be one of the buffet’s busiest periods.
      • Confirm your main restaurant and dining arrangement after boarding, especially if you have Aurea flexible dining.
      • Make specialty reservations on day one if restaurant choice or dining time matters to you.
      • Confirm whether you are booking Kaito Sushi Bar or Kaito Teppanyaki because they are different experiences.
      • Check current package supplements and restrictions before choosing a dining package.
      • Use the main dining team for serious dietary needs rather than relying only on the buffet.
      • Treat prices, hours, menus, and app functions as sailing-specific information.
