MSC Pan Asian Restaurant: Menu, Prices and Review

The Pan Asian Restaurant on MSC Seaview and MSC Seaside offers something a little different from the ship’s traditional specialty dining options. Part of Asian Market Kitchen, the restaurant brings together Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, and Hawaiian-inspired dishes in a menu featuring everything from sushi and dumplings to wok-fried noodles, fresh seafood, and steak.

Developed in collaboration with acclaimed chef Roy Yamaguchi, Pan Asian is one of three Asian dining experiences aboard MSC Seaview, alongside the Sushi Bar and Teppanyaki restaurant.

MSC’s published U.S. Pan Asian menu features a $40 dining experience, with additional charges for certain premium dishes. Prices and menus may differ aboard MSC Seaview, particularly on European itineraries.

MSC Seaview Pan Asian Restaurant Menu and Prices

Pan Asian is an extra-charge specialty restaurant located on Deck 16 of MSC Seaview.

MSC’s published U.S. menu advertises a $40 dining experience, with selections spanning appetizers, soups, salads, main courses, and desserts. It also features separately priced sushi and specialty rolls. The $40 price will sometimes be discounted ahead of the cruise or bookable as part of a larger package for a discount.

Here is a breakdown of the published prices.

      Dining optionPublished U.S. price
Pan Asian dining menu$40 per person
      Spiny lobster entrée supplement$30
      Additional entrée$20
      Specialty sushi rolls$13-$20
      Sashimi platter$35
      Omakase sushi and sashimi selection$38
      Specialty cocktails$18
      Nonalcoholic cocktails$11

These prices come from MSC’s U.S. sample menu and are not confirmed onboard prices for MSC Seaview. European sailings may use euros and different pricing. MSC’s U.S. menu also specifies an 18% restaurant gratuity on purchases, with applicable taxes depending on the itinerary.

One important detail is that paying for the standard dining experience does not necessarily include everything on the menu. Premium selections and additional dishes can result in extra charges.

Before booking, we recommend checking the price and included courses through your MSC cruise reservation.

      What Is Asian Market Kitchen?

Asian Market Kitchen is a collection of three specialty dining experiences on MSC Seaview and MSC SeaSide, each offering a different approach to Asian cuisine.

The Pan Asian Restaurant is the main sit-down dining venue, featuring dishes influenced by several Asian culinary traditions. The Sushi Bar focuses on sushi, sashimi, and Japanese specialties, while Teppanyaki offers a more interactive dining experience with chefs preparing meals in front of guests.

The restaurant concept was developed with Roy Yamaguchi, a Japanese-American chef known for combining Hawaiian, Japanese, and European culinary influences.

Pan Asian has approximately 74 seats, making it a relatively small dining venue compared with MSC Seaview and MSC Seaside’s Main Dining Rooms.

Located on Deck 16, Asian Market Kitchen is in the same general specialty dining area as Butcher’s Cut and Ocean Cay Restaurant.

Unlike Teppanyaki, where the cooking performance is part of the attraction, Pan Asian is primarily about exploring different flavors and dishes in a traditional restaurant setting.

      MSC Pan Asian Appetizer Menu

One of the more interesting parts of Pan Asian is its appetizer selection.

Rather than focusing entirely on familiar Japanese dishes, the menu features flavors and ingredients drawn from several different cuisines.

      MSC’s published menu includes:

      AppetizerDescription
Hawaii Kai-Style Crab CakesCrab cakes with spicy sesame sauce
Original Sichuan Baby Back Pork RibsPork ribs with Mongolian marinade
Crispy Fried CalamariCalamari with yuzu kosho tartar sauce
Crispy Imperial RollsShrimp, pork, glass noodles, and sweet-and-sour sauce
Braised Pork Bao BunPork with scallions, gochujang sauce, and pickled vegetables
Shrimp DumplingShrimp with ginger, garlic, scallions, and ponzu sauce
Steamed ClamsClams with lemongrass curry sauce, chorizo, and pork belly
Avocado PokeAvocado, sushi rice, and spicy soy sauce

The variety is a major attraction here. Guests can choose something familiar, such as calamari or dumplings, or try a dish with less familiar flavor combinations.

The Sichuan pork ribs and braised pork bao bun are particularly interesting choices for anyone who enjoys bold sauces and a combination of savory and spicy flavors.

Seafood lovers also have several options, including the crab cakes, shrimp dumplings, and steamed clams.

For guests who prefer plant-based food, the avocado poke offers an alternative to the meat and seafood appetizers.

      Pan Asian Soups and Salads

The soup and salad selections continue the restaurant’s combination of Japanese and Southeast Asian flavors.

Available selections on the published menu include:

      Soup or saladDescription
Spicy Lemongrass Seafood SoupSeafood soup with dumplings, onions, mushrooms, and bamboo
Miso SoupTraditional Japanese-style soup with tofu, wakame, green onion, and tempura flakes
Green Papaya SaladPapaya salad with spicy pork, shrimp, peanuts, tofu, mint, and crispy garlic
Seasonal SaladFresh seasonal ingredients with ponzu vinaigrette

Miso soup is the most traditional choice for guests who enjoy Japanese cuisine.

For something different, the spicy lemongrass seafood soup offers a more aromatic combination of flavors.

The green papaya salad is another distinctive option, combining fresh vegetables, seafood, pork, and crunchy ingredients. Despite being a salad, it is not vegetarian.

These lighter selections may be especially appealing if you plan to order one of the restaurant’s richer seafood or meat entrées.

MSC Pan Asian Main Course Menu

The main course selection is where Pan Asian really separates itself from a traditional sushi restaurant.

Although Japanese-inspired dishes are well represented, the menu also offers noodles, seafood, lamb, beef, and vegetarian options.

      MSC’s published menu features:

      Main courseDescription
Misoyaki Black CodBlack cod with forbidden rice, lomi tomatoes, and wasabi beurre blanc
Wok-Fried Asian NoodlesNoodles with shrimp, chicken, and char siu pork
Pan-Fried Vegetarian Spicy NoodlesNoodles with tofu and forest mushrooms
Blackened AhiTuna with spicy Chinese soy-mustard and crispy wonton chips
Spiny Lobster Fried RiceFried rice with Chinese sausage, egg, mushrooms, and asparagus
Vietnamese-Style Lamb ChopsLamb chops with rice pilaf and red wine curry sauce
Filet MignonBeef tenderloin with green beans, kimchi potato fritter, and beef demi-glace
Crispy Tofu SteakTofu with seasonal vegetables, garlic, scallions, and tobanjan sauce
Spiny LobsterLobster with garlic, ginger, vegetables, mushrooms, and oyster sauce

The spiny lobster entrée carries a $30 supplement on MSC’s published U.S. menu.

For seafood lovers, the misoyaki black cod is one of the more distinctive selections. It combines Japanese-style preparation with a rich sauce and rice.

The Vietnamese-style lamb chops also stand out because they offer something different from the standard lamb preparations found in many cruise ship restaurants.

Guests who prefer more familiar dishes can choose the filet mignon or wok-fried noodles.

The vegetarian spicy noodles and crispy tofu steak provide alternatives for those who do not eat meat or seafood.

Overall, there is enough variety that guests who aren’t particularly interested in sushi can still find several appealing options.

MSC Pan Asian Premium Dishes and Extra Charges

Like several other MSC specialty restaurants, Pan Asian offers premium selections that may cost more than the standard dining experience.

The most notable example is the spiny lobster entrée.

MSC’s published U.S. menu lists a $30 supplement for this dish. It also specifies a $20 additional charge for an extra entrée.

This distinction matters if you’re purchasing a specialty dining package.

A dining package generally covers a defined dining experience rather than unlimited access to every available menu item.

If you are considering an upgraded seafood dish or ordering more than one main course, ask your waiter to confirm the additional charge before placing your order.

MSC Pan Asian Sushi and Sashimi Menu

Asian Market Kitchen also features sushi and sashimi selections, although the dedicated Sushi Bar operates as a separate dining concept.

MSC’s published Pan Asian menu includes specialty rolls and individual sushi selections with à la carte pricing.

Here are some of the featured specialty rolls.

      Sushi rollPublished U.S. price
      Spring Fever Roll$13
      Ahi “10” Roll$13
      Caterpillar Roll$14
      Surf ‘n’ Turf Roll$19
      Triple Play Roll$17
      Unagi Royale$13
      Crunchy Futo$20

The Spring Fever Roll combines crab, garlic cream cheese, spring rolls, lemon, and sweet chili sauce.

The Surf ‘n’ Turf Roll includes Wagyu beef, crab, asparagus, and black sesame oil, offering an unusual combination of beef and seafood.

For guests who enjoy more elaborate sushi rolls, the Triple Play combines shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, yellowtail, garlic aioli, and black sesame seeds.

The Crunchy Futo features salmon, tuna, avocado, cucumber, and truffle teriyaki sauce.

The menu also offers traditional nigiri and sashimi selections, including salmon, tuna, yellowtail, red snapper, octopus, and eel.

      Two larger options include:

      • Sashimi Platter: $35, featuring tuna, yellowtail, salmon, and octopus
      • Omakase Selection: $38, featuring a chef’s selection of sushi and sashimi

These are published à la carte prices, not guaranteed inclusions in the Pan Asian fixed-price dining experience.

If sushi is your main priority, it’s worth comparing Pan Asian with the dedicated Sushi Bar before booking.

      MSC Pan Asian Dessert Menu

The dessert menu offers a mixture of familiar favorites and Asian-inspired flavors.

      DessertDescription
Molten Chocolate SouffléWarm chocolate dessert with raspberry sauce and vanilla ice cream
Matcha Green Tea Crème BrûléeTraditional crème brûlée with matcha green tea and brown sugar
Pineapple Upside-Down CakePineapple cake served with coconut ice cream
MalasadasHawaiian-style fried dough with rum sauce and cinnamon
      Fresh FruitSeasonal fresh fruit selection

The matcha crème brûlée is a particularly fitting way to end a Pan Asian dinner. It combines a familiar dessert with the distinctive flavor of Japanese green tea.

The malasadas are another interesting choice, reflecting the Hawaiian influence associated with Roy Yamaguchi’s cooking.

Guests who prefer something traditional still have the molten chocolate soufflé, while fresh fruit provides a lighter option.

Drinks and Cocktails at Pan Asian

Pan Asian offers a selection of specialty cocktails designed to complement the restaurant’s menu.

MSC’s published U.S. menu lists specialty cocktails at $18 and nonalcoholic cocktails at $11.

Some of the featured drinks include:

      CocktailMain ingredients
Hawaiian MartiniVodka, coconut rum, vanilla vodka, and pineapple juice
Spiced Mai TaiRum, ginger syrup, pineapple, and orange
Silk RoadGin, ginger, lime, amaretto, and orange bitters
Rosé Lychee SangriaRosé wine, vanilla vodka, lychee, and fruit juices
Far East CollinsSake, melon liqueur, lime, lychee, and club soda

The nonalcoholic menu also includes Rosemary Blush, Herbed Pineapple Limeade, and Raspberry Bog.

Beverages are separate from the dining price unless covered by an eligible MSC beverage package.

If you have a drink package, check the package’s current price limits and exclusions before ordering. Some specialty cocktails may exceed the amount covered by your package.

You can find more information in our MSC Drink Menus and Prices Guide.

Is Pan Asian Included in MSC Specialty Dining Packages?

Pan Asian may be available as part of an MSC specialty dining package, depending on the package and sailing.

MSC’s specialty dining packages allow guests to purchase multiple specialty restaurant experiences together, often at a discount compared with booking each restaurant separately.

However, there are a few important details to understand.

A specialty dining package does not automatically include unlimited dishes from the restaurant’s complete menu. Instead, it generally provides a defined dining experience with specific inclusions.

At Pan Asian, premium dishes such as spiny lobster may carry a supplement. Additional entrées and separately priced à la carte selections may also cost extra.

We recommend confirming three things before using your dining package:

      • Whether Pan Asian is included in your specific package
      • Which dishes and courses are covered
      • Whether your preferred dishes require an upgrade charge

Pan Asian can be a good restaurant to include in a multi-meal package if you want more variety than steak and seafood restaurants alone.

For additional information, read our MSC Dining Packages Guide.

Can You Use the MSC Diamond Dining Benefit at Pan Asian?

MSC Voyagers Club Diamond and Blue Diamond members receive a complimentary specialty dining benefit, subject to the program’s eligibility rules and participating restaurants.

Whether Pan Asian is available for this benefit should be confirmed with the specialty dining team on MSC Seaview.

Even when a restaurant participates in the benefit, premium menu selections and additional dishes may carry separate charges.

If you have Diamond status, it’s worth checking Pan Asian’s eligibility before using a paid dining package or booking an individual dinner.

Read our Guide to the MSC Diamond Specialty Dining Benefit for more information.

Pan Asian vs. Sushi Bar vs. Teppanyaki

MSC Seaview offers three distinct Asian dining experiences, and choosing the right one depends largely on what type of meal you want.

      RestaurantDining experience
Pan Asian RestaurantSit-down dining featuring Asian-inspired appetizers, seafood, noodles, and meat dishes
Sushi BarJapanese sushi, sashimi, and specialty rolls
TeppanyakiInteractive dining with chefs preparing food on a hot grill in front of guests

For guests looking for a traditional sit-down dinner with several courses, Pan Asian is an appealing choice.

If you’re primarily interested in sushi and sashimi, the dedicated Sushi Bar may be a better fit.

Teppanyaki is the most entertainment-focused option. With chefs preparing meals at the table, it’s particularly attractive for families, groups, or guests celebrating a special occasion.

You can read more about MSC’s Japanese restaurants in our Kaito Teppanyaki and Sushi Menu and Review.

Is MSC Seaview Pan Asian Worth It?

Based on the published menu, Pan Asian offers an interesting alternative to the more traditional specialty dining experiences aboard MSC Seaview.

      Its biggest attraction is variety.

Unlike Butcher’s Cut, which focuses primarily on steaks, or Ocean Cay Restaurant, which specializes in seafood, Pan Asian combines several Asian culinary traditions into one menu.

Dishes such as misoyaki black cod, Sichuan pork ribs, braised pork bao buns, and Vietnamese-style lamb chops aren’t the types of selections you’ll necessarily find in the Main Dining Room.

That makes it an appealing choice for cruisers who enjoy exploring different cuisines.

The restaurant is especially worth considering for guests who:

      • Enjoy Asian-inspired cuisine and bold flavors
      • Want something different from traditional cruise ship restaurants
      • Prefer a sit-down dinner rather than a cooking performance
      • Enjoy seafood, noodles, dumplings, or more adventurous dishes
      • Have a specialty dining package and want additional variety

There are also reasons some guests may prefer another restaurant.

Guests who are primarily interested in steak might get more value from Butcher’s Cut. Those who want sushi specifically may prefer the Sushi Bar, while families looking for a lively dining experience may enjoy Teppanyaki more.

We haven’t personally reviewed a meal at Pan Asian aboard MSC Seaview, so we can’t offer a firsthand assessment of the food quality, portions, or service.

From the menu alone, however, the restaurant has enough variety and distinctive dishes to make it worth considering, particularly if you’re planning multiple specialty dining experiences during your cruise.

      Final Thoughts

MSC Seaview’s Pan Asian Restaurant offers one of the ship’s more varied specialty dining menus, combining Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, and Hawaiian influences.

With dishes ranging from misoyaki black cod and wok-fried noodles to Sichuan pork ribs and lamb chops, it’s a restaurant that goes well beyond traditional sushi.

For guests who enjoy Asian cuisine, Pan Asian is an appealing alternative to the ship’s steakhouse and seafood restaurants.

The most important thing is to understand the pricing before booking. MSC’s published U.S. menu provides a useful starting point, but actual menus, package inclusions, and charges can vary aboard MSC Seaview.

If you’re planning several specialty dining nights, Pan Asian deserves a place on your shortlist, particularly if you want to try something different during your cruise.
