MSC Cruises is giving its onboard app a smart new upgrade.
The cruise line has unveiled MSC Concierge, a new AI-powered digital assistant built into the MSC for Me app. The feature is designed to help guests get quick answers, make onboard requests, book experiences, and receive personalized recommendations during their cruise. MSC says the service is complimentary, available 24/7, and works in more than 90 languages.
For anyone who has ever wandered around a ship trying to figure out where dinner is, what time the show starts, or whether they already spent too much at the gift shop, this could be a very welcome addition.
What Is MSC Concierge?
MSC Concierge is a conversational AI assistant that guests can access through the MSC for Me app on their own smartphone or tablet. Think of it as a digital version of the onboard concierge desk, but available from your cabin, a pool lounger, the buffet, or wherever else you happen to be when you suddenly remember you meant to book that specialty restaurant.
According to MSC, guests can use the feature to ask questions, book services, reserve restaurants, schedule spa treatments, explore shore excursions, check account balances, and find entertainment options onboard.
MSC says the tool is connected to each guest’s booking, which means it can tailor responses based on things like cabin type, booked experience, and drink package. That part is especially interesting, because one of the most common MSC pain points is figuring out exactly what is included with your specific fare, package, or experience level.
In other words, instead of hunting through the daily program, app menus, or the fine print, guests should be able to ask a direct question and get an answer that applies to their actual cruise.
What Can Guests Use It For?
MSC is positioning the new feature as a broad onboard assistant, not just a chatbot for basic questions.
Examples of what MSC Concierge can help with include:
- Answering questions about the cruise
- Booking specialty dining
- Booking spa treatments
- Booking shore excursions
- Checking onboard account balances
- Finding entertainment recommendations
- Requesting guest services or housekeeping help
- Getting tailored suggestions based on the guest’s booking
MSC’s consumer-facing page also mentions possible uses like requesting new towels, finding the best time to visit the gym, checking weather for the next port, and browsing activities for the day.
That could make the app much more useful onboard, especially for first-time MSC cruisers who are still learning how the line handles dining, entertainment, packages, and daily schedules.
You Do Not Need an Internet Package to Use It
One of the most guest-friendly pieces of this announcement is that MSC Concierge does not require a paid internet package.
MSC says guests simply connect to the ship’s Wi-Fi to use the feature through the MSC for Me app. That is similar to how many onboard app features already work. You are not browsing the open internet – you are connecting to the ship’s internal network to use MSC’s onboard services.
That distinction matters. Cruise Wi-Fi packages can be expensive, and guests should not have to buy internet just to manage basic onboard services.
Where Is MSC Concierge Available?
MSC says MSC Concierge is already available on the majority of its ships and will be rolled out fleetwide by the end of May 2026.
As of the announcement, MSC listed the feature as currently available on:
- MSC World Europa
- MSC Fantasia
- MSC Euribia
- MSC World America
- MSC Virtuosa
- MSC Seascape
- MSC Seashore
- MSC Meraviglia
- MSC Orchestra
- MSC Seaside
- MSC Poesia
- MSC Musica
- MSC Lirica
- MSC Grandiosa
- MSC Armonia
- MSC Divina
- MSC Sinfonia
- MSC Bellissima
- MSC Splendida
That list includes several ships that matter a lot to North American cruisers, including MSC World America, MSC Seascape, MSC Seashore, MSC Meraviglia, MSC Seaside, and MSC Divina.
MSC Says the Pilot Program Was Strong
Before the wider rollout, MSC tested the feature through a pilot program. According to the cruise line, the pilot included more than 170,000 guests and more than one million exchanged messages. MSC says the feature earned a 93% service satisfaction score during that pilot. The average guest that reviewed the AI feature used the app about 5 times – That’s a strong signal to a useful tool!
That is a fairly large test, and it suggests this is not just a small experimental feature being quietly added to the app. MSC appears to be making this a core part of its onboard digital experience.
Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises, said the goal is to combine technology with MSC’s crew hospitality so guests can personalize their cruise and access information instantly.
This Could Solve a Real MSC Problem
MSC Cruises has a lot going for it, especially when it comes to newer ships, international itineraries, private island experiences, and often very competitive pricing.
But let’s be honest: MSC can also be a little confusing.
Between Bella, Fantastica, Aurea, Yacht Club, drink package rules, dining times, entertainment schedules, app features, excursion options, and onboard account questions, guests can spend a surprising amount of time trying to figure out what applies to them.
That is where MSC Concierge could be genuinely helpful.
The best version of this feature would not just answer generic questions like “What time is dinner?” It would answer questions like:
“Is this drink included in my package?”
“Can I book Hola! Tacos tonight?”
“What shows are available after my dinner time?”
“Where is the quietest place to get coffee right now?”
“How much have I spent onboard?”
“What can I do at Ocean Cay today?”
If MSC Concierge can reliably answer those kinds of real-world questions, it could make the onboard experience feel much smoother, especially for new MSC cruisers.
What does it look like?

A Helpful Upgrade, As Long As It Works Well
Of course, the big question with any AI feature is accuracy.
Cruise passengers are not usually asking casual trivia questions. They are making plans, spending money, booking excursions, checking package rules, and sometimes trying to solve real onboard problems. If the assistant gives unclear or incorrect information, that could create frustration quickly.
MSC does say the feature is designed to complement the crew, not replace human interaction onboard. That is the right framing. A digital concierge is great for quick questions and simple tasks. But for anything complicated, sensitive, or involving a billing issue, guests will likely still want to speak with a real crew member.
Still, if the feature works as advertised, this is a smart step forward for MSC.
Looking Ahead
MSC Concierge feels like one of those features that could become much more important over time.
Right now, it is being introduced as an onboard assistant for questions, bookings, recommendations, and service requests. But as MSC continues to build larger and more feature-packed ships, including ships like MSC World America, tools like this could become essential for helping guests navigate the experience.
Cruise ships are basically floating resorts now. Sometimes wonderful, sometimes overwhelming, and sometimes both before lunch.
Having a smarter app that can answer personalized questions in real time could make a big difference, especially for guests who do not want to spend their vacation standing in line at guest services.
MSC Concierge is expected to be available across the full fleet by the end of May 2026.
