MSC Grandiosa has a large, purpose-built casino with slot machines, live table games, sports betting kiosks and its own bar.
Known as Le Grand Casino, the venue is located on deck 7 near Carousel Lounge. The casino is one of the ship’s primary nighttime entertainment areas and becomes especially active after dinner and the evening shows.
Grandiosa offers blackjack, roulette, live craps and poker-style table games, along with a large selection of slot machines. Passengers can also place wagers through sports betting kiosks.
One important thing to know before visiting is that smoking is permitted on part of the regular open casino floor. There is no completely enclosed smoking room separating it from the rest of the casino. Passengers who are sensitive to cigarette smoke may notice the smell throughout the venue.

Where is the casino on MSC Grandiosa?
Le Grand Casino is located on deck 7 toward the back of MSC Grandiosa.
The casino sits immediately forward of Carousel Lounge, where Grandiosa presents its separately ticketed Carousel Productions shows. It is also near several other evening venues, including Masters of the Sea, TV Studio & Bar and Champagne Bar.
This makes the casino a convenient stop:
- Before or after a Carousel Productions show
- After dinner at Butcher’s Cut or one of the Kaito restaurants
- Between live music performances
- Later in the evening when most outdoor activities have ended
- While waiting for another show or event to begin
Unlike ships that place a few gaming machines along a busy walkway, Grandiosa has a dedicated casino space. You will still find passengers passing through the area, but the venue feels like a full casino rather than a small collection of machines.
You can see how the casino fits into the rest of the ship in our MSC Grandiosa Complete Ship Guide.
What games are available in Le Grand Casino?
MSC Grandiosa offers a combination of slot machines, traditional table games, poker-style games and sports betting.
Confirmed casino games include:
- Slot machines
- Blackjack
- Roulette
- Live craps
- Poker-style table games
- Sports betting kiosks
The exact combination of open tables depends on passenger demand, staffing and the time of day. A game can be available in the casino without its table being staffed throughout every operating period.
If there is a particular game you want to play, visit the casino early in the cruise and ask when it is normally offered.
You can learn more about the fleetwide lineup in our guide to games available in MSC cruise ship casinos.
Slot machines
Slot machines make up the largest portion of the Grandiosa casino floor.
The available selection can include:
- Traditional reel slots
- Video slots
- Penny-denomination games
- Progressive jackpot machines
- Fixed-jackpot machines
- Video poker
- Electronic gaming machines
The individual titles and denominations are subject to change. MSC can replace machines or adjust the casino lineup, particularly when moving a ship between the European and North American markets.
This means an older Grandiosa photo or video may show games that are no longer onboard. Passengers should not choose the ship based on the expectation that a particular branded slot machine will still be available.
Insert your cruise card into the machine before beginning to play. This allows MSC to track your activity and award Dream Points through its casino rewards program.
You generally do not earn casino points retroactively if you forget to use your card. Make it a habit to insert the card before adding money or placing your first wager.
Blackjack
Blackjack is available in Le Grand Casino.
The number of open tables and minimum wager can change throughout the cruise. Lower minimums may be available during quieter periods, while busier evening sessions may have fewer inexpensive seats.
Before sitting down, check:
- The minimum and maximum wager
- The blackjack payout
- Whether the dealer hits or stands on soft 17
- Whether doubling after a split is allowed
- How many times a hand can be split
- Whether the table is standard blackjack or an alternative version
MSC casinos may offer different versions of blackjack across the fleet. Do not assume the rules are identical to the casino you normally visit on land.
New players should consider watching a few hands before joining the game. This provides a chance to understand the table pace, hand signals and current procedures without slowing down the game.
Live craps
MSC Grandiosa has live craps.
This is an important distinction because craps is not available on every MSC ship. It is particularly popular with American casino players and should be one of the more active areas when Grandiosa begins sailing from Port Canaveral.
Live craps uses a staffed table with physical dice rather than a completely electronic or bubble-craps setup.
Craps can feel intimidating to beginners because the table contains numerous wagers and the game moves quickly. New players can keep things simple by focusing on the pass line and basic odds instead of trying every wager displayed on the table.
If MSC offers an introductory gaming lesson during your cruise, it can be a good opportunity to learn the procedures without the pressure of joining a busy nighttime table.
The craps table may not operate whenever the slot machines are available. Check with the casino staff for the expected opening time each day.
Roulette
Grandiosa also offers roulette.
The ship’s European history makes roulette a natural fit for Le Grand Casino, although the exact table configuration and minimum wagers can vary.
Before placing a wager, check whether the table is:
- Single-zero roulette
- Double-zero roulette
- An electronic version
- Using rules or procedures that differ from those at your home casino
Roulette is one of the easier live games for a first-time casino guest to understand. Players can wager on individual numbers, groups of numbers, colors, odd or even results and other combinations shown on the table.
The simpler outside wagers are easier to follow, but they do not eliminate the casino’s mathematical advantage.
Poker-style table games
Le Grand Casino offers poker-style table games, but passengers should not automatically expect a conventional poker room.
Cruise-ship casinos commonly offer games such as:
- Three Card Poker
- Ultimate Texas Hold’em
- Other poker variations played against the dealer
These are house-banked casino games. Players compete against the dealer’s hand rather than playing against the other passengers at the table.
That is different from a traditional Texas Hold’em cash game or tournament where passengers compete against one another.
If live passenger-versus-passenger poker is important to you, confirm the current offering onboard before making plans. Grandiosa should not be des
cribed as having a dedicated poker room unless one is specifically offered on your sailing.
Sports betting kiosks
MSC Grandiosa has self-service sports betting kiosks in the casino.
The kiosks allow passengers to place wagers on available sporting events while the ship is in a location where betting is legally permitted.
Available markets may include:
- Professional football
- Basketball
- Baseball
- Hockey
- Soccer
- Tennis
- Golf
- Other international sporting events
The available leagues, games and types of wagers can change based on the ship’s location and the sportsbook’s current offerings.
Sports betting may not be available while Grandiosa is docked in every port. Even if the casino floor is open, a particular event or betting market may be unavailable because of local restrictions.
If you place a wager late in the cruise, ask how winnings will be settled if the event ends after the casino cashier closes or after you leave the ship. Do not assume the normal process for a land-based sportsbook applies onboard.
What currency does the Grandiosa casino use?
Le Grand Casino should use U.S. dollars when MSC Grandiosa sails from Port Canaveral.
Grandiosa’s European cruises generally use euros as the onboard currency. This is why older casino photos and reviews may show table minimums or slot amounts in euros.
Passengers can typically use:
- U.S. cash on Caribbean sailings
- Casino chips at table games
- Slot credits
- Funds transferred through the onboard account
- Casino vouchers produced when cashing out a slot balance
Cash is usually the simplest way to establish a firm gambling budget. Once the cash you planned to spend is gone, you can stop without adding more charges to the onboard account.
Transferring funds from the onboard account may involve a fee. Ask the cashier about the current charge before completing a transaction.
Do not assume all onboard credit can be converted into casino play. Promotional credit can have restrictions based on how it was issued.
How to cash out slot winnings
When you finish playing a slot machine, use the cash-out option rather than leaving the balance on the machine.
Depending on the current casino system, the machine may produce a voucher or transfer the balance through the player’s casino account. Follow the instructions on the screen and keep any printed voucher secure.
Casino vouchers should be redeemed before the casino closes on the final night.
Do not wait until disembarkation morning. The casino and cashier will normally be closed once the ship returns to port, and the guest services desk may not be able to redeem a casino voucher.
Before leaving the casino for the last time:
- Cash out every slot-machine balance
- Check your pockets for printed vouchers
- Redeem remaining casino chips
- Ask about any promotional credits
- Verify your Dream Points
- Speak with the casino host about any earned offers
This is especially important if you do not expect to sail on Grandiosa again soon.
MSC Signature Casino Rewards and Dream Points
MSC Grandiosa participates in the MSC Signature Casino Rewards program.
Players earn Dream Points based on tracked casino activity. Dream Points are separate from MSC Voyagers Club points and do not determine your normal cruise-line loyalty status.
To receive credit for your play:
- Insert your cruise card into a slot machine
- Present your cruise card when joining a table game
- Make sure the dealer or casino staff records your play
- Use the same passenger account throughout the cruise
MSC can consider several factors when rating casino play, including:
- Game type
- Average wager
- Length of play
- Frequency of play
- The mathematical advantage associated with the game
Your actual win or loss is not the only factor.
Casino activity can lead to benefits such as:
- Onboard free play
- Casino-host recognition
- Discounted future cruises
- Complimentary cruise offers
- Special casino promotions
- Other targeted offers
Earning a future offer should never be treated as a guaranteed return on gambling losses. The value and conditions of casino offers can vary considerably.
Our MSC Casino Points and Rewards Guide explains how Dream Points work in more detail.
We also have a separate guide explaining MSC casino offers and what a “free” cruise actually includes.
Le Grand Casino Bar
Le Grand Casino has its own dedicated bar.
The casino bar offers the types of drinks found at many other MSC lounges, including:
- Cocktails
- Spirits
- Beer
- Wine
- Soft drinks
- Mocktails
- Bottled water
Eligible drinks can be covered by an MSC drink package, subject to the package’s normal price limit and exclusions.
Casino drinks are not automatically free simply because you are gambling. MSC does not generally provide unlimited complimentary alcoholic beverages to every casino player.
Some passengers may receive casino drink benefits based on their rated play, a promotion or a specific casino offer. Those benefits are not universal and should be confirmed with the casino host.
You can learn more in our guide to free drinks in MSC casinos.
Casino bar operating hours may not match the full operating schedule of the slot floor. If the bar is closed, another nearby lounge on deck 7 may still be serving.
Is smoking allowed in the MSC Grandiosa casino?
Yes. Smoking is permitted in a designated portion of the regular open casino floor while the casino is operating.
The smoking area is not completely enclosed or isolated from the rest of Le Grand Casino. Smoke can travel into the surrounding non-smoking portions of the venue.
Passengers who are sensitive to cigarette smoke are likely to notice the smell, even when they remain away from the designated smoking machines.
This does not mean passengers can smoke anywhere they want in the casino. MSC’s policy generally restricts casino smoking to:
- Designated casino areas
- Casino operating hours
- Guests who are seated
- Guests who are actively playing
Smoking should not be permitted while standing in walkways, wandering through the casino or sitting in a non-smoking area.
Actual smoke levels can depend on:
- How crowded the casino is
- How many passengers are smoking
- Where the designated section is located
- Ventilation
- The time of day
Smoke-sensitive passengers may prefer to visit shortly after the casino opens, during a show or while much of the ship is at Ocean Cay.
Even during a quieter period, Grandiosa should not be described as having a smoke-free casino.
Our complete guide to smoking in MSC casinos explains the fleetwide policy.
Can children walk through Le Grand Casino?
Children may walk through the Grandiosa casino, but they cannot stop, loiter or play.
This is useful for families because the casino’s deck 7 location is close to Carousel Lounge and other entertainment areas. A child accompanied by an adult can pass through the venue when using it as a route to another part of the ship.
However, passengers under 18 cannot:
- Play slot machines
- Sit at a gaming table
- Place a sports wager
- Stand and watch casino games for an extended period
- Loiter beside a parent who is gambling
- Use the casino as a waiting area
Parents should keep children moving through the venue and avoid allowing them to touch machines, buttons, cards, chips or other gaming equipment.
Families concerned about cigarette smoke may also want to look for an alternate route instead of walking through the casino.
How old do you have to be to gamble on Grandiosa?
The minimum gambling age on MSC Grandiosa is 18.
This applies to the ship’s Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral as well as its European sailings.
Grandiosa passengers who are 18, 19 or 20 can legally gamble in Le Grand Casino. However, they cannot purchase or possess alcoholic beverages on a U.S.-based sailing because MSC applies a minimum drinking age of 21.
Casino staff and bar staff can ask to see a passenger’s cruise card to verify age and eligibility.
When is Le Grand Casino open?
Grandiosa’s casino hours depend on the itinerary and the ship’s location.
The casino will generally open after the ship has sailed far enough from port to operate legally. Slot machines may become available before the staffed table games.
Le Grand Casino is likely to be busiest:
- After the evening theater shows
- After dinner
- On sea days
- Later in the evening
- During casino tournaments and promotions
- When poor weather limits outdoor activities
Quieter times may include:
- Shortly after the casino opens
- During popular theater shows
- During normal dinner periods
- While Grandiosa is at Ocean Cay
- Earlier in the afternoon on sea days
Exact hours are listed in the MSC for Me app, the daily program and signs posted inside the casino.
Our guide to MSC casino operating hours provides a closer look at when casinos open and the best times to visit.
Is the Grandiosa casino open at Ocean Cay?
Yes. The casino can remain open while MSC Grandiosa is docked at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.
Ocean Cay is an important exception to the normal rule that a cruise-ship casino closes while the ship is in port.
This can be a good time to visit Le Grand Casino because most passengers will be ashore enjoying the island.
The casino may be particularly quiet:
- Shortly after passengers begin leaving the ship
- During the middle of the island day
- While popular Ocean Cay activities are underway
- During evening events on the island
The casino being open does not guarantee that every table will be staffed. Slot machines may operate during a larger portion of the visit, while blackjack, craps, roulette and poker-style games may follow a more limited schedule.
Check the posted schedule if you want to play a live table game while the ship is at Ocean Cay.
Are casino tournaments available?
Grandiosa may offer casino tournaments, lessons and promotions during a sailing.
Possible activities include:
- Slot tournaments
- Blackjack tournaments
- Gaming lessons
- Casino raffles
- Prize drawings
- Hot-seat promotions
- Free-play promotions
- Future-cruise certificate promotions
These events are not guaranteed on every cruise.
Check the daily program and visit Le Grand Casino early in the sailing. Some events require advance registration, and tournament entries can fill before the scheduled starting time.
Gaming lessons can be particularly useful for passengers who want to try craps, blackjack or another table game without joining a busy evening session.
Does MSC Grandiosa have a high-limit room?
Grandiosa does not advertise a separate, enclosed high-limit casino room.
Higher-denomination slot machines or higher-limit table play may still be available within the regular casino. Passengers interested in larger wagers should speak with the casino host.
Do not rely on photos from another MSC ship because casino layouts vary across the fleet.
Are drinks free in the Grandiosa casino?
Casino drinks are not automatically free for every player.
Passengers can purchase drinks from Le Grand Casino Bar or use an eligible MSC drink package.
Highly rated players may receive a casino drink benefit, but this depends on the passenger’s casino status, offer or tracked activity. Ask the casino host rather than assuming your drinks will be complimentary.
Can you use cash in the casino?
Yes. Cash can be used in Le Grand Casino.
Grandiosa should use U.S. dollars during its Port Canaveral season and euros during European cruises.
Cash is a good choice for passengers who want to establish a clear spending limit and avoid casino charges appearing on their onboard account.
Can you charge casino play to your cruise card?
Passengers may be able to transfer money from their onboard account for casino play.
A service fee may apply. Confirm the current fee with the casino cashier before completing the transaction.
Promotional onboard credit may have restrictions and should not automatically be assumed to be available for gambling.

The biggest thing to prepare for is cigarette smoke. Smoking is allowed in a designated portion of the open casino floor, and sensitive passengers may notice the smell throughout the venue.
Children can walk through the casino when accompanied by an adult, but they cannot stop, loiter or play. Adults ages 18 to 20 can gamble, although they cannot purchase alcohol during Grandiosa’s U.S.-based sailings.
Game availability, table minimums and operating hours will change. Explore the casino early in the cruise, present your cruise card whenever you play and cash out all vouchers and chips before the final night ends.
