MSC Grandiosa offers a broad mix of entertainment, ranging from complimentary theater productions and live music to energetic theme parties and late-night dancing.
The ship has two primary show venues. Théâtre La Comédie hosts MSC’s complimentary production shows, while the smaller Carousel Lounge presents premium acrobatic productions for an additional charge.
Entertainment is not limited to the theaters. Live music, karaoke, quizzes, dance parties and interactive game shows take place throughout Galleria Grandiosa, TV Studio & Bar, Grandiosa Bar & Lounge, Sky Lounge and other venues.
Most entertainment is included in the cruise fare. The main exceptions are Carousel Productions, bingo, casino gaming and interactive attractions such as bowling, racing simulators and virtual-reality games.
Show titles, performers and schedules can change by sailing. Use the MSC for Me app and the daily program to confirm what is available during your cruise.

Théâtre La Comédie

Théâtre La Comédie is MSC Grandiosa’s main theater. The approximately 945-seat venue is located at the front of decks 5 and 6.
This is where passengers will find the ship’s complimentary evening productions. Depending on the sailing, the schedule may include:
- Song-and-dance productions
- Tribute shows
- Magic and illusion
- Acrobatic performances
- Vocalists
- Guest entertainers
- Comedy
- Variety shows
MSC’s production shows are generally shorter than a traditional Broadway musical. Most last approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
The performances also tend to rely heavily on music, dancing, costumes and visual effects rather than lengthy dialogue. This approach works well for MSC’s international passenger mix because guests can enjoy the show regardless of their primary language.
MSC may schedule two or three performances of the same show during an evening. The different start times allow passengers with early, late or flexible dining arrangements to attend.
Recent Grandiosa schedules have included tribute performances featuring the music of ABBA, Tina Turner and Michael Jackson, along with productions such as Mysteria, Rouge and Back to the Groove. Comedy and guest entertainment may also appear during selected cruises.
These should be treated as examples rather than a guaranteed lineup. Performers and production schedules can change between sailings, itineraries and homeports.
Main-theater shows are included in the cruise fare. Reservation procedures can vary. Some cruises allow passengers to reserve performances through the MSC for Me app, while others may use open seating.
Check the app soon after boarding. If reservations are offered, book the performances you want to see early. Popular tribute, magic and comedy shows can fill even when MSC provides multiple showtimes.
Arrive approximately 15 to 20 minutes before the performance if you want a better choice of seats. Passengers requiring accessible seating should arrive even earlier or ask Guest Services for assistance.
Carousel Productions at Sea
Carousel Lounge is located at the back of deck 7. The purpose-built theater is smaller and more intimate than Théâtre La Comédie, placing the audience closer to the performers.
The venue uses advanced lighting, projection, sound and aerial-performance equipment to create a more immersive show than the standard productions in the main theater.
MSC Grandiosa currently hosts two Carousel Productions at Sea:
- Strings
- Sweet
Both productions combine aerial acrobatics, circus-style performances, music, dance, elaborate costumes and large-scale visual effects.
Carousel Productions are not included in the standard cruise fare. A separate ticket is required, even if you have already purchased a drink package.
The experience generally includes a pre-show component and a signature cocktail or nonalcoholic alternative. The drink is part of the overall show experience rather than a replacement for the ticket charge.
Prices can change by sailing and may be lower when booked before the cruise. Check the Manage My Booking portal or MSC for Me app for the price attached to your reservation.
Carousel Lounge has limited seating, so these performances can sell out. Book early if Strings or Sweet is an important part of your cruise.
The productions generally last approximately 40 minutes. Build extra time into your schedule for the pre-show experience and included drink.
Aerial performances can occasionally be adjusted, delayed or canceled because of ship movement or other safety considerations.
Strings
Strings is the more atmospheric and story-driven of Grandiosa’s two Carousel Productions.
The show follows a lonely toy maker and his muse through a theatrical world built around music, movement and aerial performance. It combines circus acts, dance, elaborate visual effects and emotional storytelling.
Passengers who prefer a more traditional theatrical production may find Strings to be the stronger choice. It is still visually engaging for families, but its tone is somewhat more dramatic than Sweet.
Strings may be the better option for:
- Adults looking for a theatrical production
- Couples
- Fans of aerial acrobatics
- Passengers who prefer storytelling over a tribute show
- Guests attending only one Carousel Production
The performance is family-friendly, although very young children may be more attracted to the bright colors and playful theme of Sweet.
Sweet
Sweet is a colorful musical and acrobatic journey through an oversized fantasy candy world.
The production uses familiar music, playful costumes, dance, circus acts and aerial performances to create a brighter and more whimsical experience than Strings.
Sweet may be the better choice for:
- Families with younger children
- Passengers who enjoy colorful sets and costumes
- Guests looking for a lighthearted production
- First-time attendees who want the most visually playful Carousel show
Although the theme is family-friendly, Sweet is not simply a children’s show. The acrobatics, music and production design are intended to appeal to adults as well.
Passengers can attend one Carousel Production, book both or skip them entirely. The shows have different themes, so attending Sweet after seeing Strings does not feel like watching the same performance twice.
Does MSC Grandiosa still have Cirque du Soleil?
No. MSC Grandiosa no longer offers Cirque du Soleil at Sea.
Grandiosa was originally built with a purpose-designed entertainment venue for Cirque du Soleil. Its original Cirque productions were Cosmos and Exentricks.
The Cirque du Soleil partnership ended, and older reviews, videos and travel-agency pages may still incorrectly describe Grandiosa as having Cirque du Soleil shows.
Carousel Lounge is now used for MSC’s in-house Carousel Productions at Sea. The current Grandiosa productions are Strings and Sweet.
These shows can accurately be described as acrobatic or circus-style productions, but they are not Cirque du Soleil performances.
TV Studio & Bar
TV Studio & Bar is one of Grandiosa’s most interactive entertainment venues.
Located on deck 7, the space combines a bar, stage and television studio. Events held here may be broadcast to screens elsewhere around the ship.
Programming can include:
- Karaoke
- Trivia
- Audience-participation game shows
- Talent competitions
- Comedy
- Dance events
- Live music
- Theme nights
- Interactive contests
The atmosphere is more casual than Théâtre La Comédie. Instead of quietly watching a large production, passengers may be asked to participate, answer questions or perform.
Karaoke and major game shows can become surprisingly popular. The venue is relatively small, so arrive early if the daily program lists an event you do not want to miss.
Most entertainment in TV Studio & Bar is included. Drinks are covered only if they fall within your beverage package.
Galleria Grandiosa
Galleria Grandiosa is the social center of the ship.
The two-level indoor promenade runs through decks 6 and 7 and is lined with restaurants, bars, cafés and shops. Above the promenade is one of Grandiosa’s most recognizable features, a long LED ceiling that displays animated scenes throughout the day.
The ceiling presentations may include:
- Landscapes
- Artistic animations
- Abstract visual effects
- Music-driven light shows
- Destination scenes
- Special-event graphics
These presentations are short visual experiences rather than full theatrical shows. They are included in the cruise fare and do not require reservations.
The middle of the promenade usually provides the best overall view. You can also watch from the upper level if the main walkway is crowded.
Galleria Grandiosa is also used for:
- Theme parties
- Dance events
- Live performances
- Parades
- Interactive games
- Holiday celebrations
- Entertainment-team activities
The area can become extremely busy during major evening events. Arrive early if you want to stand close to the action, or use the upper level for a less crowded view.
Attic Club
Attic Club is MSC Grandiosa’s dedicated nightclub.
Located on deck 18, the club usually opens later in the evening and can continue operating into the early morning hours.
Attic Club may offer:
- DJ music
- Dancing
- Themed events
- Late-night drinks
- Occasional parties
- Music requests
The club can feel quiet early in the evening. It usually becomes more active after the theater performances, Galleria parties and other scheduled entertainment begin winding down.
Do not judge the nightlife by visiting Attic Club at 9 p.m. Try returning after 11 p.m. or around midnight when more passengers are ready to dance.
Admission is generally included, although drinks require a beverage package or individual purchase. Age restrictions may apply during late-night hours, so families should check the current onboard schedule.
MSC Grandiosa theme parties
MSC is known for hosting energetic theme parties, and Grandiosa may offer several during a cruise.
Possible events include:
- White Party
- Golden Party
- Sunshine or retro party
- Tropical party
- Silent Disco
- Glow or neon party
- Snow or foam pool party
The exact lineup depends on the cruise length, destination, weather and entertainment schedule. Not every party will be held on every sailing.
The White Party is the event passengers are most likely to encounter. Pack at least one white outfit if you want to participate, although there is no requirement to wear an elaborate costume.
Theme parties may take place in:
- Galleria Grandiosa
- Atmosphere Pool
- Horizon Amphitheatre
- Attic Club
Outdoor events can be moved, modified or canceled because of rain or wind. Always check the MSC for Me app on the day of the event.
Read our MSC Themed Party Guide for more info.
Pool-deck entertainment
Atmosphere Pool is the center of Grandiosa’s daytime outdoor entertainment.
Programming may include:
- Pool games
- Dance classes
- Music
- Trivia
- Competitions
- Sail-away activities
- Family events
- Foam or snow parties
- Entertainment-team performances
Most pool-deck activities are included in the cruise fare.
The entertainment team can make Atmosphere Pool loud and energetic during scheduled activities. Passengers looking for a quieter pool experience can try Safari Pool or the adults-only Horizon Pool.
Weather and wind can cause outdoor activities to be delayed, relocated or canceled.
Daytime activities
Grandiosa offers a full entertainment schedule during sea days and a smaller selection while the ship is in port.
Possible daytime activities include:
- Trivia
- Dance lessons
- Fitness classes
- Arts and crafts
- Deck games
- Bingo
- Shopping presentations
- Language games
- Family competitions
- Talent events
- MasterChef at Sea activities
- MSC Factor competitions
Most trivia, games and entertainment-team activities are included.
Bingo cards cost extra. Casino tournaments, arcade competitions and other activities involving paid attractions may also require a fee.
Sea days have the busiest schedule. Port-day activities can be a good option for passengers who decide to remain onboard.
The languages used during activities depend on the itinerary and passenger mix. Cruises from Port Canaveral may use more English, while Mediterranean sailings commonly make announcements in several languages.
Family entertainment
Families can attend most Grandiosa theater productions and live entertainment.
Sweet is likely to be the most visually appealing Carousel Production for younger children, while older children and teenagers may also enjoy Strings.
Additional family programming may include:
- Family discos
- LEGO activities
- Talent shows
- Doremiland appearances
- Family game shows
- Kids-club performances
- Pool-deck competitions
- Interactive TV Studio events
The exact activities depend on the sailing. Teen events and kids-club programming may continue into the evening.
Children need reservations or tickets for performances when those requirements apply. Do not assume a young child can attend a sold-out show without being included in the reservation.
Le Grand Casino

Le Grand Casino is located on deck 7 near Carousel Lounge.
The casino includes slot machines, table games and a casino bar. Tournaments and promotional events may also be scheduled during the cruise.
Casino gaming costs extra and is restricted to passengers who meet the minimum age requirement for the sailing.
The casino is not primarily a live-entertainment venue, but it contributes to Grandiosa’s late-night atmosphere and may remain active after the theater performances have ended.
Indoor games and attractions

Grandiosa also offers several indoor attractions for passengers who want something more interactive than a show.
Options may include:
- Full-size bowling
- Formula racing simulators
- Interactive XD Cinema
- VR Maze
- Virtual Games Arcade
- Sportplex activities
Most electronic and simulator-based attractions cost extra. Passengers planning to use several attractions may receive better value by purchasing Fun Pass credit before the cruise.
Bowling and popular attractions can fill during sea days and poor weather. Make reservations early when they are offered.

Do you need reservations for MSC Grandiosa shows?
Reservation requirements vary by show and sailing.
Carousel Productions should be reserved in advance whenever possible. The venue has limited seating, and both Strings and Sweet can sell out.
Théâtre La Comédie may use reservations through the MSC for Me app, but procedures can change. Some performances may have open seating.
Check the app shortly after boarding and reserve your preferred performances if the option is available.
Even with a reservation, arrive early. MSC may eventually release unclaimed seats to passengers waiting outside the theater.
MSC Yacht Club guests can ask the concierge for help with show reservations, but passengers should not assume that Carousel tickets are automatically included with Yacht Club. Confirm the benefits attached to your booking.

These are short visual presentations rather than full production shows.
Final thoughts
MSC Grandiosa’s entertainment works best when passengers take advantage of several different parts of the ship rather than focusing only on the main theater.
Théâtre La Comédie provides complimentary productions, tribute shows and visiting entertainers. Carousel Lounge offers a more intimate premium experience with the acrobatic productions Strings and Sweet.
Outside the theaters, Grandiosa Bar & Lounge, TV Studio & Bar, Sky Lounge, Masters of the Sea and Attic Club provide noticeably different ways to spend the evening. Passengers can move from live music to karaoke, a Galleria party, quiet cocktails and late-night dancing without repeating the same experience.
The most important planning step is to check the MSC for Me app soon after boarding. Reserve Carousel Productions and any bookable theater shows early, but leave some open time for the live performances and spontaneous events you discover around the ship.
Also remember that Grandiosa no longer offers Cirque du Soleil at Sea. Older reviews referring to Cosmos and Exentricks are outdated. The current premium productions are MSC’s own Strings and Sweet shows.
